Does it? Over who? Mo Salah? Son? Grealish?

Let's be honest, we'd be raising our eyebrows if Rashford or Curtis Jones got in on only 15 starts and 12 goal contributions. And two league starts since the end of February. I love Phil, but that's not really fair.
I'm not saying he should win over those players.

I'm saying he has played enough minutes this season for people to include him in the conversation, that's completely fair.

Looking at starts is too simplistic imo, look at minutes, 3000 is alot to play.

Jack Grealish has barely played 2000 minutes, he is not in the conversation. Salah and Son definitely are.

Obviously going to be an unpopular opinion on a Man City forum but I find these shouts for Young Player of the Year and/or Team of the Year very baffling. We can't overlook the fact that he has been on the bench for over half the season. Let's be fair here.

Up to last week, he has played the same number of games as Mount - 29. Phil has played two more in Europe, Mount two more in the league.

What's that now; 3 PL winner's medals, and he's only 20. Has anyone achieved that feat at a younger age?
He’s already won more trophies than Gerrard did in his whole career.

Foden 10; Gerrard 9 senior honours in their careers (Phil also won the U17 World Cup, if you counted non-senior).

The thing with Foden is he is being saved the minutes in the PL because he is so important. Peps focus is the CL. So It’s a strange one in terms of calling it as young player of the season or a team of the year. He’s definitely the young player of the year across all competitions - he’s been the key component in 2021 of a team that is a game away from doing a treble.

But there’s an argument for losing out on individual awards for just the PL alone as he’s been rotated so much because of the CL importance.

That said, if Giggs can win on a massive technicality then I don’t mind Foden doing so here with a minor one.

He’s played 1300 minutes less than Mount in the league, which is equivalent to about 14 games.
