The substitusion argument is rubbish, just because we think something should be available doesn’t mean we always have to use it. I have a first aid kit in my kitchen should I use it every day.

If you're walking around the house covered in cuts and telling everyone who will listen about how many plasters you need but you then go on to apply only one then I'm going to reserve the right to call you a tit.

Well Im,not , and neither are the team, until the two covid cases we’ve been doing okay on the injury front the last few weeks. It was September / October we needed the substitutions and we may well need them at the back end of the season, the last few weeks when we have been able to give players a week off we haven’t needed them.

There is only one correct answer: if Phil was Spanish he would be regular for us since 2 years ago. Phil is a phenomenal young player, absolutely brilliant! How can he develop if he in not beeing played? Pep is just talking nonsense about Phil. So he is telling us that a 20y old is bringing to much energy into the game? Yes, he will learn to slow down and tempo the game, but will do so when he will be older and will not have the same energy. Just let the kid enjoy his football, ffs!

1-1 draw against West Brom. Two substitutions with less than fifteen minutes left.

0-0 draw against united. One substitution halfway through the second half.

2-0 loss against Spurs. Two substitutions with about 15 minutes left.

1-1 draw with Liverpool. One substitution.

1-1 draw with Leeds. Three substitutions, two defensive ones fifteen minutes after conceding the equaliser.

These are just the standouts when results haven't gone our way. Similar happened in slender wins such as the 1-0 against Southampton in which we made a single sub.

The last time I remember Pep actually being proactive with subs was when we were 1-0 down against West Ham at half time and he brought Phil on who then went on to almost immediately score the equaliser.

He's never been great at it but this season his game management has gotten so much worse.

I do believe every game we should be using full subs mate .this season is a one off and we will need to freshen up to keep going . You have to admit that when pep Said we need 5 subs then the next game he used one was abit crazy though .

That is an opinion, not an answer. My opinion is that I think your opinion is bollocks regarding Foden's nationality preventing selection

Can't agree with using all subs every game. They are there for a purpose, not a guaranteed run out

The problem we've got here is that Pep can do whatever he wants and people will defend him no matter what.

The guy fucking whinges about not being able to make five subs and then continues to use one or two during a fixture pileup. That's fucking stupid and I don't care how many medals he's got on his mantelpiece.

It took about three weeks of people looking at each other and scratching their heads before someone finally came up with the absolutely mint excuse which was along the lines of "oh, Pep's just trying this new thing where instead of using substitutions frequently, he'll simply rotate players on a game by game basis to maintain fitness."

Sorry but the guy makes the same fuckups nearly every week, even when they don't end up costing us. The fact that someone will always bend over backwards to retrofit some Geniuslogic behind every decision he makes doesn't change that.

Personally, I think the way Pep barely uses Foden in any meaningful way is both a detriment to the player and the long term future of the club.

"But Pep says..." had a better ring to it a couple of years ago.

The fact that you don't understand the logic behind Pep's decisions doesn't make them "fucking stupid". Maybe Pep thinks that most of the players need more minutes to hit form, not fewer minutes. Maybe it's not the moment to rotate that much right now, given that Pep used different players in the league and the CL. Once the players regain form, they'll be rotated more often.

In my view, it's not true that "Pep barely uses Foden in any meaningful way". The team is struggling in attack, even Kevin is struggling at the moment, and it's only natural that a 20 y. o. player is not the answer to our problems right now. Foden has to show more than he did vs Leeds and WBA to get regular starts in the league. He will get a chance soon, maybe already against Everton, and has to perform better.

1 start in the last 11 league games, and he’s played just 38% of the minutes available in the Premier League this season.

5 out of 6 starts in the Champions League being an integral part of our best group stage finish ever if I’m not mistaken.

Some of the Prem starts he has had: Leicester Leeds WestBrom he had poor or less than impactful games, and gave the ball away too much.

If he’d been brilliant, I’d have a problem with this, but he’s not been.

How many bad games has Sterling had this season? Or Rodri? Or Bernardo? Foden’s actually got a better minutes per goal/assist ratio than Sterling has this season, whilst Bernardo doesn’t have a single goal or assist.

I do agree with that point. There does seem to be a difference in standards when it comes to shit games to being dropped across our team.

Bernardo can play well, then gets dropped and loses form and confidence, comes back in, has a shocker, don’t see him for two weeks... Foden is about the same... Rodri, Mahrez and Sterling can be awful for six weeks running yet still play.

The last time I remember Sterling playing well for an entire game was Brighton at home in August last season.

because as long as you're not shit to Pep, you're ok. Even if everyone else can see it.

Which is absolutely fine and how it should be but it doesn't work like that for many other players in the squad.

He doesn't get picked after a good performance and he doesn't get picked after a bad one.
I believe Pep picks players on their strengths against a particular opponent or for a particular game plan. He will know which players can best satisfy that, and if it isn't a particular player, it in no way means he doesn't rate them

Sterling keeps doing what Pep instructs him to do in games Sterling missing chances or a miss pass or more doesn’t matter. I’ve come to the conclusion if you do everything Pep tells you to do you stay in the team unless your rested or injured.
