People tend to forget that he is still 21 years old, he is still developing and maturing as a player. That's the reason of why there still inconsistency and that's great for him. It will be good for him if he experiences this kind of period of inconsistency, it provide a great learning experience if he ever overcome that problem and fullfill all his potential as a great player like we all expect him to be.

Both Grealish and sterling can't do better than him tbf
Didn't disappear and was a major threat to Madrid all night.

Your right. Just feels like compared to last season he’s doing it less. Reckon he would have got past the real right back pretty easily

He certainly could have but the one time he did he still passed it back to De Bruyne...and we scored. It is how Pep wants us to play. Keep the ball and play the percentages.

If we were chasing the game he might be more expansive. He still showed a lot of quality.

Got a goal too and now has more than any other English player had managed for his age. Not bad. Let's hope he can go and get another in the away leg and then maybe the winner in the final!

All our wing players do that on instructions of pep
Indeed, and while it eventually(hopefully) leads to an end product, its also incredibly limiting, frustrating and tedious.
I think he,along with 3 or 4 others, are being overly restricted with such tactic, and it isn't getting the best out of them.

I'd love us,on more regular occasion,to just go for the jugular and let our quality in the final 3rd settle the result.

He is a generational talent and we need to lock him in for another decade.

Pure class, and looked so determined. Alread6 an experienced winner and looking like he really wants it. Will be the heartbeat at City for years to come

26 goals and assists in 53 games this season (don't kill me if that's not up to date). I think if he can add to that in the last handful of games then all the earlier talk of an underwhelming season goes away for a lot of people.

I actually think this has been a great season for his development. Maybe it feels like he's had less big moments but he's put on some muscle, been learning a new position, taken an absolute kicking and shedded what remained of his "I'm just lucky to be here" demeanour.

He's gone from being the future to being both the present and the future and I have no doubt that he's already someone who will be an attraction to other players we're looking at signing. And that's saying a lot when you've got the squad we have.

Next season can be the one where he seriously pushes himself into Balon d'Or contention, rather than being there to make up the numbers.
