Its a bit of a enigma. Phil in an England shirt. Phil our brilliant quick footed generational talent who thrives in the half spaces with fast and accurate interplay with like minded technical players. When I think of Phil I think of him attacking the edge of the box with at least two or three other City players offering him options. Everything done at speed.

I wonder why he doesn't do that for England? Its not that he plays badly. His defensive work is fine and he rarely gives the ball away. His performance vs Senegal was excellent albeit I still would have liked to see him consistently involved. There was a passage of play in the first half yesterday when he came off the wing and went looking for the ball and was immediately more effective.

Phil relies on teammates to understand his game. Pass into tight areas. Pass quickly. One twos and run. Henderson, Mount, Rice even Kane. Not on his wavelength. Bellingham? Not convinced. I know its easy to say he needs to adapt his game but I really don't think he will flourish under Southgate or this version of England.

He done it for England last match and match before you had blinkers on!?

The spaces where Kane dropped deep are the spaces you need to play Foden. I thought he wasn’t great, but he didn’t appear to have the ball as much as some of the other players, either.

Not sure it is. Foden is looking for Henderson and Shaw as feeds. He often is available in the tight spaces he flourishes in and they ignore him and play easier passes. I noticed this happening in every game.
I don't know if this is one issue that is up for debate. The goals, assist, chances created, fouls drawn and penalties all shows that Saka was the better player in this competition. If Foden had gotten the ball more, I am sure he would have done more but that's all speculative, what we do know is that Saka's wing produced more.

Agree with that. What was it, 1Goal and 2 Assists for Phil and 3 goals and 1 assist for Saka?

The young Arsenal lad has been very good indeed.

I don't think you're understanding his point. The play down the left was awful - Foden was starved of decent opportunities due to relying on Shaw and Maguire to play him. Opportunities down the right were more vast, partly due to Stones being composed on the ball and able to make up for the lack of midfield to pass to, and having the capability to accurately relay the ball further forward. Due to the lack of options from Rice, Maguire / Shaw were hoofing the ball into opposition feet, row z, etc.

There’s a fat **** who represents Gregg’s that is responsible for that.
