Do you think Foden is the first player in history to have an average manager?

When he takes the next step up and starts running games it won’t matter who the manager is, he’ll see plenty of the ball.

How does he grab the game by the scruff of the neck when he has
- Maguire lumping it for his head.
- Henderson hoofing it nowhere near him.
- Shaw hoofing it up the line for him to chase.
- Bellingham delaying a pass.

He did grab the game by going in the middle & getting on it but fvk me there are some busy shit footballers.

Isn’t it amazing KDB, Gundo, Foden, Grealish, Bernardo, Cancelo are all struggling in their international teams that have gone out.

I think the last 2 games summed up where Foden is in his development right now.

When he’s put in dangerous positions, he executes his skills very well. Put him 1v1 against a defender and he’ll beat them, feed him the ball on a counter and he’ll nail the final pass, play him in and he’ll finish well in front of goal.

But he’s not at the stage yet where he demands the ball and grabs control of the game.

Part of that’s because he’s still on the wing, but lots of players manage to do all that while being on the wing (David silva, Bernardo at Monaco, Messi, Hazard etc).

I think it’s probably because he plays with Gundogan, Bernardo and KDB every week that he’s not been that guy that everything runs through - it’s much easier at a worse club ie Grealish at Villa.

For him to reach his best and for England to get the full benefit of him, he will need run the game, not just dominating his area of the pitch when the ball comes to him.

It will probably be there for Euro 2024.
you will have noticed in the first half, having been starved of the ball, he came inside looking for it and was suddenly involved in a really good passage of play through the midfield, far better than anything that had gone on before. Why the hell he didn't continue to do that I don't know.

I remember Sven sticking Rooney on the left just so he could get other players in the team!

Maybe it is at this time, bollocks that is, but trying to coach a player at the level of KDB is, send them out and let them take care, it's the lesser players/teams that need organization
I know telling them that is the coaching and game management part:-) we just don’t have a national manager who will do it. We have 18 months till the next tournament, the dick head needs to do something different. He just swaps players in the same position hoping it will make a difference. He is a very poor coach. His man management skills away from the pitch are good. And that’s the only good thing I can say about him.

yes. Its the Messi/Argentina effect. Our tactics and sophistication of playing is in another universe to that played by all International teams and our players struggle a bit to adapt. Bernie has been ok in that deep role that he sometimes plays for us. Cancelo was dropped as much for his defensive brain fart as anything. Who knows what was going on with Kev. He was being played too far forward imv but still did enough when he switched on to get Belgium through (if Lukaku hadnt been such a donkey).

Scholes as well, Gerard right back. Quite hilarious really. Sven was star struck. How do I get the big names into one team. Daft twat did waste a squad of really good players. Although the players themselves had the wrong attitude.

Because Southgate wants him on the wing. Remember he doesnt play there for his club he said. When he went inside England looked miles better.

When our players go on international duty they are dropping down to championship level. That why Maguire does ok for England but not in the premiership

I do, he was under instruction.
