Jack played really well against united this season but you would be hard press to think of that many really good performances from him over his City career.
He played well...not really well, but well for the first half....other than that and chelsea that is it....

We need to accept that at present, he is a very poor buy

Watched to whole game against united again and he was very good but like you say he has not been a great purchase at all.

Just had a look. We've started with Foden, Haaland, Grealish in the following games:

Premier League
West Ham (a) 2-0
Wolves (a) 3-0
Man United (h) 6-3

Champions League
Sevilla (a) 4-0

That's it. No idea why Pep doesn't play them together more often.

Full back issue....you have to have two mobile fullbacks....

Grealish and Foden stopped starting together after Walker injury. Not difficult to understand....

Here Pep is saying why he choses Grealish over Foden on some occasions

He says Grealish has the extra pass while Foden is better when more vertical. Im interpriting that is that he means Foden is better inbetween the lines with his movement and passing where as Grealish is wider, maintains possession and withn theat width we need to break down teams at times

(obviously thats just an interprittion of what Pep has said as he didnt go on to explain it).

IF this is the case then surely he can see that though Grealish does offer that width we get very little from it and his extra passis often sideways or backwards slowing the game down and having no postive influence in terms of creating goal scoring opportunities. It also goes against what pep has said previously about how he wants his players to be free in the final third

Again I could be misreading/misunderstanding wha he has said

Thoughts?????

My opinion is Pep is striving for something that doesnt exist. He wants total control to prevent the opposition transition. Its impossible. most of the goals we concede are counter attacks. Palace, Liverpool, everton off the top of my head this season and spurs every fucking time we play them.
i think weve reached the pinnacle of control and pursuing further is just damaging our attack and making us predictable.

As much as I would rather leave Pep to the tactics it is a bit baffling this, because if we lose the ball working across the field as sometimes happens we are right in the sh1t and the opposition are straight at us whereas if a winger loses it by the corner flag we have a good chance of hemming them in and getting it back.
Maybe somethings going over my head.

Foden and grealish should be both be playing. It’s worked well previously.
When you think how well the front three played together in the derby, it’s remarkable really that Guardiola has been so reluctant to play them since.

In fact I think I’m correct in saying that the XI who played in the derby haven’t played together since. That’s of course partly due to injuries but the same XI were available against Everton and he chose not to use them. The team selection, the constant churn of tactics and the reluctance to use substitutes have all become harder to explain as the season has progressed.
