Yeah Bernado is a great example to learn from for that. Bernado isn't even quick, he's just extremely clever at keeping the ball.

Anyway I didn't think Phil was at his very best tonight. He showed some moments of his ability but he's definitely had better games recently.
The amount of times you don't just see Bernardo protecting the ball against players a foot taller and several stone heavier but also using his own body to out maneuver the opposition and essentially shove them off the ball is staggering, if foden can soak up one attribute from anybody it would be that.

thought he played well..much improved ball control/first touch, less turnovers than against Newcastle

Class per usual... But going from watching him centrally to holding the width 90% of the time just feels wrong.

20 G/A on the season now.

I agree. He belongs in the middle.
We were discussing this in the pre-match thread, and admittedly, I don't know what the solution is. Or if there even is one. Phil has been more outspoken this season than ever about wanting to continue to play centrally. The chances of that happening in 'big' games with KDB here are slim to none.

I'm not sure why it was deemed so blasphemous that I even floated the notion that if KDB does sign a new extension, he may start to evaluate his options elsewhere. This is obviously the worst-case scenario, but players' careers are short, and he's turning 24 in a few months. That doesn't mean he doesn't love the club any less, but what other player of Phil's caliber is going to keep waiting for a position that quite clearly isn't readily available or even there to be won? He's waited YEARS as it is and took his opportunity with both hands with KDB out this season.
