That's what I've been trying to get across on here recently. My only concerns are how quickly Phil lost form, and how poor he's been compared to the previous season.

The lad needs a break.
"Burnt out", "Brain Fog", "illness" , those are all rumours that have come from inside the club and if remotely true indicate a player that needs time away from his occupation.

There was a period post Christmas where Foden looked like he was getting his mojo back but sadly the last 2 months he's gone back into his shell.

The drop off in performance is shocking but more worrying for me is he seems to have lost his love of the game.

Phil is the biggest case study of how badly the schedule has been post-Covid, and how much this is impacting successful clubs. Weird long season in 20, delayed Euros in 21 (reaching the final), weird winter world cup in 22 which shortened both summers either side, euros again in 24 (final again), and now club world cup 25, and a world cup again next summer.

I know they're paid a lot, but ultimately they're playing in a pressure cooker where even one small mistake could cost you a league and where millions of people are evaluating every movement. Of course he's knackered.
I agree but nobody is forcing him to play International football. I wouldn't.

I’m not ITK in any way, shape or form. But like many others I’ve been told, second hand, that Phil is physically unwell.

I hope it’s untrue and he naturally regains his elite form.

Nostalgia makes everything better, if I remember correctly, Kun had 2 or 3 seasons where he performed well below expectations. It happens with all footballers, I think somewhere between 2014 and 2016, there was all this talk of Messi being finished, he still managed to find a new wind and performed at the highest level. Phil has earned it, even if next season he performs below expectations, I would still be on his side, if you know anything about athletes or bodybuilding, some times you need to go off from your form a little bit to allow a physical and mental reset before pushing back on.

He doesn't have a clubbing, drug or alcohol problem, it's simply down to his form and I feel like he still has a bit of that imposter syndrome, he just needs a good psychologist to tell him that he deserves everything he has gotten and he deserves to be here. If he works on the little things, he will be back to normal., Also, it is important to note that it's not all down to him, players like Bernie who used to help carry some of the load are now sadly pedestrian, Rodri is injured, Rico has taken over from Kyle so those bombing runs forward are no longer there, it's not all on Phil.

Listening to Jamie Carragher on the Overlap talk about Foden makes me think he's actually a poster in this thread. The vitriol and snideness is off the scale. Just like certain posters in this thread.
carragher is probably the worse pundit on the overlap can't stand the way he speaks about city

The general

The general rumour seems to be around potential gastrointestinal issues such as Chron's or IBD.

Whilst I'm all too familiar with how difficult these type of conditions can be to accurately diagnose and treat for ordinary folk you'd think one of the biggest, most successful and wealthiest clubs in the world would be able to access the very best gastroenterologists and dieticians available to get a handle on it.

He’s getting an absolute hammering from the media and the press, if his head wasn’t gone before it will be now.

Needs the season to end but it won’t will it with this stupid summer competition we have to take part in.

Reckon the all the regular players need a rest during ‘close season’ but we know it ain’t happening…….
The only ones who need a rest are Haaland and Gvardiol. They’ve been run into the ground this season.

Most of the others have barely been seen this season.

Bobb missed 44 games all comps / 29 PL
Rodri 42 all / 27 PL
Aké 27 all / 19 PL
Stones 24 all / 18 PL
Grealish 19 all / 13 PL
Doku 18 all / 9 PL
Dias 16 all / 11 PL
Ederson 16 all / 10 PL
De Bruyne 15 all / 9 PL (and of the 30 games he has played, he’s not started in 13 of them)
Akanji 14 all / 9 PL
Foden only started 2 of our first 10 games of the season and has recently had only played 946 minutes out of a possible 1,530 in the last 17 games with only four full 90 minutes completed in those 17 games.

You could argue that the Club World Cup could be a god send for our team to get them back up to full fitness ahead of next season.

More the accumulation of the past few seasons which I reckon have taken there toll, Pep included
