Sadly he has contributed very little in so many games. I think Grealish deserves a run in the wide position...he offers so much more.

Pathetic 70 minutes considering he's not been a nailed on starter recently

You'd never believe he's the one that has been at the club since a kid, given the lack of fight, desire and hunger he continues to show

We all agree he's having a bad season - but my god, talk about turning against one of our best players over the last 3 years - who has been at City since a boy - and is a Blue through and through.
Acknowledge he is having a tough time but our fans should not be dissing him like this
Short memories and not the attitude of true blues IMHO

Just wish he'd have aimed closer to the corner for that shot, would have done wonders for his confidence

Genuinely astounding how one poor season can cause people to turn so easily. Like, I actually find it a bit disturbing. It tells you a lot about someone’s character that when the chips are down, their first reaction is to go for the throat.

He’s literally been in the squad since being 17 and he’s been consistently excellent for the most part. Last season he was instrumental in us securing an historic 4th league title in a row and subsequently was the winner of the league’s player of the season award.

With that in mind, the response of a normal person is to support such a player going through a bad time and have the expectation that they’ll be back to their best by next season. Form is temporary & class is permanent and I have no doubt we’ll see the best of Foden again in time.

No one can doubt Foden's talent, when he's on form he's an outstanding footballer, but he's been really poor this season.

In a lot of games this season he has been a passenger. He was completely anonymous today.

Gerrard carried Liverpool for most of the time he was there, Lampard was such an integral part of Chelsea for so long, Scholes was the same for United... Foden technically is as talented if not more than all of these players, but he doesn't have the same influence on this team as the other midfielders I've mentioned had on their respective teams.

If Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes all missed games for their clubs, they would be badly missed... if Foden misses games for Manchester City, we don't even miss him at all.

He is quickly in danger of becoming a luxury player for us. He hasn't held down a specific position in this team under Pep.

We are seeing the Phil Foden of England in a Manchester City shirt and it's starting to become a bit of a worry.

Love Phil but he was awful today

Question is , does he need to be played back into form or does he need a break ?

I would give him the summer off , including the CWC

He’s already played over 300 games for us , at the same age, KDB had played less than 200 , David silva had played less than 170 and Bernardo had played exactly 200

In the whole history of the premier league there has been on four home grown PFA players of the year

Terry, Gerrard, Giggs and Foden - and giggs was a sympathy vote

We should cherish him

He obviously tried hard to get into the game, but he's just not been 'at the races' this season.
First half he was MIA, happy to hide all over the pitch and his pressing was shocking, second half at least his effort went up considerably like the other players, would love to have been in that dressing room at half time!

Very short memories, some of the comments are absolutely ridiculous.

You're right it would have done his confidence a lot of good but it's more a physical thing with Phil that has also affected his mental state. Let's hope it's temporary and he's back to his best ASAP. Because this lad is a special talent, although to read some of the comments on here you wouldn't know it.

Exactly this. Look how close he stands to other player be it our players or the opposition. It’s like “don’t pass me the ball I’m marked”. Once I noticed him in space looking for the ball in the 2nd half
