Pep’s teams are always renowned for tracking back and regaining possession of the ball, this seems to have stopped happening for some reason, tiredness, injuries or the players just not responded to him?
Started when Pep gave special license to Doku and Foden last season. It used to be Kev only and he had earned it with years of hard work. Now everyone just do the same except Bernado.

The thing that has crept into his game (seemed to start with England) is him standing in positions and calling for the ball where it is nearly impossible to find him and then throwing his hands up when he doesn’t receive it.

He’s not a youngster any more ……the one thing great players have along with their ability is a work ethic that is sadly lacking at the moment with Foden.

Phil has known a squad rich in talent all around since he joined the club from youth to seniors. He has always had mentors, he must be looking at the squad now and wondering wtf. Word of advice for Phil time to take the baton your’e the senior now. Time to be the leader on the pitch by showing others your talents. You are no longer a potential David Silva, tonight Phil you are David Silva.

I don't believe he has the personality to be a leader. He isn't Silva either. He is 24 now and should be reaching his peak and we know what he has in his locker from last season. I don't believe he is the type of player that will ever control games and dictate the pace of them like David did. He is more a game 'winner' who at his best scores out of very little opportunity. When that dries up as it has at present his influence on the team really drops.
I would like to see him working harder as well. his intensity in winning the ball back and in general his work when we are out of possession has been lacking recently.

I wasn’t making a point of him as leader as in captain, but by taking the game by the scruff of the neck and leading by example. Teams have captains but they also have a player or two who lead by example (just by being an 8/9 out of 10 each game) and by doing so lift the team. Also by showing a skill set that lifts fans and players.

Tonight Matthew I'm going to be David Silva.
That’s the one I was thinking of.

Players wanted to come to City because we had Silva, now Foden needs to express his inner Silva and be the reason for players to want to come here. Same as DeBruyne he attracts players to want to play for City. Foden has it within himself to do this.

Unfortunately Foden is making the exact opposite effect. Watch any England game. The players were fed up with him throwing his arms in the air asking for balls. Then they had to listen to the post match reviews blaming them of not being Rodri.

He is the football clubs biggest asset. To see people turning on him already is sad.
He’s not Haaland is. If were to sell either Haaland would bring in the bigger fee. Frankly the pair of them aren’t currently contributing much at the moment. He was one of the better players last week but that’s nt saying much.

The lad that could burst away from a couple of players in a tight space and get you off your seat looks a long time ago. He’s not looking like he’s going to start dictating games any time soon. Still well worth his place as we know he can bring goals to the team. With the goals not flowing though he looks far from the player we all hoped he’d be centrally or showed last season.

needs to stay on the bench for some time. I think he knows that he will play regardless. Bellingham really made him lose confidence huh. Unbelievable.

The amount of times he backed out of tackles was unacceptable, and he was pretty lazy tracking back, when you have a fullback who can't defend you have to help him out and he didn't bother with that, you can be off form but there is no excuse for lack of effort, a 33 year old battered Kev ran and worked harder than him and that's criminal, no way he should start with this attitude.

McAtee came on and showed in 5 minutes what Foden hasn’t in a few weeks.

I also feel like Pep was sending a message. McAtee’s had 2 minutes of PL football all season but got half an hour today and Foden hauled off in the process.

Rumours his missus has kicked him out.
Would make sense. I didn’t buy all the illnesses at the time. He doesn’t look interested at all and that would explain it.

I can’t imagine the temptations these young lads have thrown their way daily but to be a world class player you have to live the life away from the pitch. I had hoped that greenwood incident would straighten him out but it appears not.

Hope he can sort it out and get back to his best
