He's been our worst player this season (alright it's probably Kovacic then him) and that's mainly because he has no excuses.

Gundo, Bernardo, Kev, they're all getting on, legs have gone, it's understandable.

But Phil is 20-fucking-4, he should be running the team, running the league with his natural ability but this season has been embarrassing.

If he has an underlying injury and something difficult going on in his personal life I can forgive it somewhat but without that knowledge, he's been an embarrassment.
your hatred toward Kovacic is shocking to me. when Kovacic as injured in Nov-December the team lost badly in every game bar Forest. It was visually obvious that Kova was crucial in the team. I'm fine with claims that the team should get better or younger players and Kova etc can be sold. but constantly claiming Kova is the worst player of the team is just an embarrassment to yourself.

He was our best at running and pressing before.

Either he's been run into the ground or is lacking motivation.

Never thought I'd say this but Jude looks a better player at the moment than him.. *shocked to say that*

My main concern is it’s his motivation, 24 and already won everything there is to win at club level. Sounds horrible but I do hope he’s either carrying an injury/illness or he has got personal problems because once you lose that motivation it’s so hard to get back. Even the great Ronaldinho might as well have retired at 27 and if it can happen to someone as good as him it can happen to anyone.

Maybe it does need us to sign Wirtz or someone of that calibre to give him the jolt he needs.

He's crap mate, plays centre midfield and can't pass a ball.

I hope all the nonsense comparisons to Saka and Palmer are what finally light a fire under his ass. If the team’s failings this season aren’t enough, then a hit to his pride should do it.

No problems with Kovacic ……we knew what we were getting…remember his games for the chavs?

One of our own ! - well Phil stop throwing your hands up at other team mates and start putting a shift in
You’re at the best club at the world and if you leave / we get rid because you can’t motivate yourself the only way is down

If Phil was to retire from football tonight, he’d retire with a career that 95% of English footballers to ever play the game could ever dream of.

He’s also at a similar age to when KDB, Aguero, Silva, Yaya all started their City careers.

He’s also my favourite player and I am gutted whenever he’s not in the starting 11.

However, regardless of any off field personal or on field motivation issues, I am starting to believe that Phil will never be the main main for us. The superstar player we look to when things are not going well that inspires everyone else.

He’s a very very good player who thrives in a very very good team, he is almost guaranteed 15 goals and 10 assists a season and that’s more than ok.

He just doesn’t have the aura of a main man like KDB or Aguero and Silva were for us and he’s nearly 25, he still looks at times like a young kid. I think he still gets treated like a kid by his peers as well.

If he stays for the next 10 years he will most likely hold the all time club record appearance record, the clubs most decorated player, most capped player and probably be comfortably number two in the goalscoring charts behind Haaland.

I just hope he has some memorable moments where he was the main man to look back on as well instead of memories of being a very good player in a very good team which is still an amazing accolade.

I feel like Noel Gallagher when he’s interviewed at The Brits “am I happy? No I want more!!”

He won’t have any records unless he starts to put a shift in

He just doesn’t look happy & no matter what position he plays he looks weak & a bit lost.

I’ve accepted he can’t be the main man of the team, he’s the 2nd/3rd guy. People will point to last year but it was Rodri who was really pulling the strings in that team.

I think some of this is due to limitations he has a player, but also just because that what he’s been throughout his City career. He’s rarely, if ever had that responsibility.

Partially down to the rest of the teamates having a poor season and deciding to follow suit (although he has hit double figures in terms of goals). You could mention he should be taking more responsibilty but again not all players are natural leaders. Again give him until next season to pick up form and then reassess.

Shocking tonight. But, how the fuck is he back defending (I use that term loosely) the left edge of our area?

The system was a fucking disgrace.

The drop off from last season is mental.

Diabolical for their third and there was one bit where he had a shot from about 40 yards out FFS.
He shows glimpses of what he can do and you think he’s back then he plays like tonight and you wonder how someone so good can be so shit and worse, completely half arsed.

Couldn’t agree more.

He’s been an absolute disgrace this season. Ostensibly, he’s shown so little effort it’s infuriating.

In his mind he's fishing, his heart isn't fully in it IMHO. How hard is it to keep focused if you win what he has won so early in his career?

Either way he needs a bit of an effort put in.

Dunno you know, maybe getting 300 grand a week would help.
