47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

Confident shot to bits?

Doesn't seem to be carrying an injury. Runs plenty too, so I'm not sure it's a fitness thing.

Everything he does is a fraction slower than at season. He's not instinctive, second guesses himself. The beauty of his play is he can take a ball in a short space and work in fractions of seconds and space but we're not seeing it this season.

Looks more mental than physical.

Not sure that's true, gives a lot up very easily for me.

Phil needs a good team around him, he's not a player that raises the team level single handedly. He cannot conduct, control or manage the midfield, he's a final third forward, a number 10 who can assist or score, if there's no solid midfield behind him you'll see these average performances from him.

Noticed something yesterday in the first half he lots the ball on our right and didn’t seem to bother trying to get it back, the ball went over to the right and out, the camera went to Akanji who was shouting Phil numerous times, Foden completely blanked him as he strolled over to the right. There is something not right, he never used to wave his hands about he took players on in the last third that seems to have gone.
I think he needs KDB and Grealish around him to make him play better sadly he gets hooked for one of them.

Crazy how much he has gone backwards. He played really high up yesterday as a 10 and had zero impact on the game.I watched Palmer earlier in the day and the difference was staggering. Not just because Palmer scored another worldie but the way he constantly got into good positions to receive the ball. Phil doesn’t even seem to be doing that at the moment

Somethings not right here Hes not untouchable and should not get away with half arsed performances needs to buck up big time

He'll be back.
He is a wonderful young player, with a technique beyond that of nearly everyone in the game.
He has been injured, and ill, and has had a new child. This is all at the same time as the team has been underperforming and going again after his sixth title.

Feels like there’s more to this one that meets the eye, as others alluded to when he was ‘ill’, but hopefully that’s wide of the mark.

He’s one of our own and IF there’s serious stuff happening off the pitch he shouldn’t be on it, regardless of our injuries.
