It might be "clearly that" ....some injuries can't be operated on, or 'sorted out' , some just niggle, don't go away, or just keep flaring up. Without being bad enough to not play. It may have felt, it had cleared many times between games in training, then as soon as he's upped the intensity in a game, it becomes sore etc again.But a lot of people have talked about injuries and illnesses, yet he's been in the match day squad most of the time and featured. He played in 45 games in total, so clearly it's not that.
There's talk about his mental health, that could certainly be an issue.
It seems to me he wasn't playing that well, just low on confidence and couldn't really get any momentum going.
If that was the case, whether 'mental illness' or not....it would do anybodys head in!
.....and (if that was the case) his confidence would be low, and he wouldn't gain any momentum.
