47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

I think Phil is at his best when he's gliding along with the ball at a fair lick, he can take it and carry it beautifully. Does nt look as good when he's more static , more an instinct player I would say. Think he will fit in great this year.

Agree think the current crop of players will help him, more movement, more fluidity = more pockets to penetrate from. He’ll thrive this season imo.

Encouraging signs on the lad and good to see him with a smile on his face. The whole team looks rejuvenated.

Could be wrong but I wonder if part of his new energy is linked to England’s shocking performances v Andora and Senegal. Phil was slaughtered by the critics and trolls for the Euros. Maybe a bit of absolution for him to see the team performing badly without him too - reassurance that it wasn’t his fault.

Looks like the weight of the world he’s been shouldering for quite a bit has diminished.
Lovely to see that smile back.

Chatting with a good pal yesterday about all things blue, do we think that we had a couple of bad influences in that dressing room last season.

I don't think that had an effect as much as him being away from the England set up. It seems to have gone rotten again

Too early to say if he’s coming back to anything like the player we know he can be. Definitely encouraging signs so far. Be some bonus to what’s already looking like a brilliant squad if Foden gets his form back.

Yeah that’s what I mean. Feels like it weighs on him heavily these days and escaping it this time and seeing them perform like a bag of shit has probably helped lift the weight off him.

Early days like we say and with hardly any of the attack playing the full 90 because of conditions, it a hard to say if he’s getting back to his best. Had a few misses that the old Phil would have smashed away no bother. But two goals and one assist in three games, and looking energised and happy - buzzing for him.

99 goals for Phil.

Will hit 200 for us if he stays the length of his career. Imagine that. A homegrown midfielder becoming one of our top scorers in history.

I would have liked him to see some more rest instead of playing this summer, but maybe it was really more mental than physical. For me he is really the epitome of the expression difference maker.

Took his goal well.
Confidence player who has to learn how to grind when it’s not going perfectly.
Seeing much more hustle from him defensively, which is good, but he has to learn to not be wasteful with the ball, and let the ball do the work while he moves into dangerous positions.

Think hes looking great. So much more lively and getting back in to those pockets and positions to hurt opposition.

Him and Cherki give me hope - but they have to play.

When he came on he looked eager last night like he wanted to do something, bodes well for next season maybe Phil is back.

Should make a point of saying what a brilliant goal that was. It looks easy and simple but it was anything but. To hit that the way he did with the precision he did was a display of supreme technical skill. Back in the goals, looks fresh, I feel like Cherki's maverick style is going to encourage foden to rediscover his and that can only be a good thing. He's one of the major positives to come from the cwc.

Based on what we've seen at this tournament, the question Pep and team need to be working on answering is:

How do we get Doku, Foden, and Cherki into the team while preventing getting ripped apart on the break?
