47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

I thought he did pretty well and the reason he was a bit quieter than he's been lately was because liverpool were so incredibly tight on him at times, which is unsurprising given his goals midweek. That left room for Jezza..

Well done to Phil for doing his job and taking a hit for the team.

The player I think he plays most like is Zidane. The way he turns out of danger is classic Zidane play.

Why is it asymmetric? Is it because Doku tends to occupy the left hand side and doesn't track back so much, so that Foden doesn't move into the advanced left wing position so much but needs to cover the space behind Doku?

Really interested to see how he performs for England now he has a manager who recognises his ability. Lots competing for that number 10 role but Tuchel knows balance is vital and I'm sure he can get the best out of him by just giving him the freedom of the pitch.

Would imagine, based on Tuchel's character he probably sticks with what he selected last time to make Bellingham and Foden really work for their place, but hopefully Phil comes on and shows his stuff. He loves playing football so whilst many aren't arsed about him playing for England I think it benefits us him getting on the pitch (as long as he doesn't get injured).
 
thought he had a good game when he came on for england, especially when the game opened up. should of got 2 assist last night and probably should of put that header away but good confidence booster for phil in an england shirt

Agreed, he was really impressive. Tuchel is a brilliant tactician and he knows Phil is a superb player and in the dressing room you know he just keeps his head down and keeps smiling and doesn't cause any problems. You give him the freedom of the park and let him do his thing which is what Tuchel is thinking with him playing that false 9 role. The touch from Bellend's pass was superb - just took it in his stride and glided forwards.

yeah agree with what you say i hope we can finally have a manger for england who can get the best out of foden and the rest of this generation of talent england have

His earlier chip that Eze missed was unreal, should have had two. He needs to work on his composure in front of goal, like we’ve seen in the prem too but pleased for him last night, hope he get’s a good cameo on Sunday too.

I don't care what anyone says.
This lad has to play every game for city and England.
If he's not in the best 11 players in England I'd like to see who is.
More ability in his left bollocking than Washford will ever have.
Took some doing from the lad to bounce back after last season.

I've always thought that Foden's biggest downside is his nationality and that England would never be able to get the best out of him. I believe he would be a mainstain of the French and Spanish national sides

Yeah that's madness but at least you admit it

To be fair, loads of fans were coming out with all sorts of nutty things a year ago when we went to shit after years of success. It was a bit disorientating I think.

I mean if wirtz is £116m I'd feel short changed getting £100m for Phil, maybe his right foot.
