47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

Everything about this World Cup is going to be a disaster, the team are shite and the fans are cunts, he’s best off out of it.
Completelty agree. Hope we get an announcement about his contract so that can be put to bed and he can have the summer off. He's shown signs this year that he's still the player we know but he's one of us and I'd always wanting him wearing our badge regardless.

Hasn’t his new contract already been done?

The World Cup omission is s blessing in disguise for the lad - he's got a couple of months to sort out everything around him, recover mentally and physically and get back on track.

Hope so mate but I thought the same about Jack when he got left out for the euros and he was awful the next season when we really needed him.

Obviously hopefully its different for Phil. I don't think there can be too many complaints about him not making the squad considering how poor hes been this season.

I've just seen Gabi agbonlahor on talksport slagging him off, lets hope that sort of talk (and there will be plenty of it considering how bad a season hes had) motivates phil.

Fresh start with a new manager next season lets see what Phil can do

I could see Maresca playing him in the same role he uses Enzo in at Chelsea.

Starting as an 8 in a double pivot.

Then a fullback or any defender inverts, to push him next to the 10.

Obviously Pep did this with Gundogan, but much less in his last 2 years, probably because he felt none of the current crop are Gundogan level.

Sadly 'Phil' is not as strong or physical as Gundo or even Enzo. Think he'll be battling with Cherki for the no 10 role, though Maresca used Palmer on the right a few times.

I would have liked to have seen Foden picked for England. As Kane said, it’s a privilege to go to a WC but to see the likes of Henderson and Mainoo, even Madueke get called up and not him, MGW or Wharton, must rub salt into wounds. Let’s hope he gets some R&R and ready for the new season. Guardiola seemed to wrap a fatherly arm around him, we’ll have to see if Maresca treats him the same.

Think he needs to be treated like a long term injured player and City shouldn’t over play him like we did with Rodri. Next season should be an easing in period, not put too much expectation on him, let him take some of the burden off Cherki and build his confidence and body up.
So hopefully the season after he’s near normal Phil

He has always slagged City players off, he slagged John Stones off before the last World Cup. What the fuck does he know he thinks Villa are a bigger club than City.

I suspect not even Gabi Agbonlahor's close relatives give much of a crap about what he thinks, so why foist his opinions on the public (or those who listen to Talksport)?

I actually think Pep may feel a little responsible for him not going, started the season in outstanding form as an 8 then was forced outwide on wing to cover injuries all went down hill from there.

I think Pep may also regret not sending him out on loan as a youngster just to physically toughen up, think it may of benefited him more than 10 mins here and there.

From what Ive been told his new deal has mainly been pushed by Khaldoon, wonder what Maresca will think.

Hey im with you Gabby agbonlahor is hardly a football genius. In fact hes the fucking complete opposite of a genius in every sense. But phils gonna get stick from a lot of other people and hes gonna have to take it on the chin. Just needs to bounce back

That ugly big eared **** tuchel + all opposite fans + jude belend (the fucking selfloving **** shit footballer) can alltogether fuck off !!!!!!! Phil is in football inteligence 5 levels above every of them cunts... He has won more trophies then all of englands footballers together... And he has the experience of winning the world cup U17... As a CITY fan from Slovakia, they all can really fuck right off !

Stones' departure now makes Phil the longest serving first team player at the club. So, he's not a kid anymore. Add in Bernardo's exit, and it's a huge hole we have to fill.

He can't be coddled. He can't be babied. The youngsters coming through, they're now looking up to him. They're observing everything he does, how he trains, how he conducts himself.

He will need to assume more leadership responsibilities, despite it seemingly being out of his comfort zone. We need him to. I think if he does, it could be the key to a major turn around for him, and the blooming of the second stage of his career.
