The common opinion has been that Dias & Slabhead make Stones look a good player maybe the opposite is true and its Stones who makes Dias and Slabhead look the part , Stones certainly made Mings look a far better centre back for a couple of games. Dont for one minute expect anyone to agree , but Stones contribution has been vastly underrated at the Euro's.

Great first half. He's got an uncanny ability of knowing where to be to block shots.

He had a fantastic tournament.
Thought tonight he and Maguire could/should have done more to keep us higher up the pitch. Made harder by the fact we couldn‘t keep the ball and weren‘t pressing, but still.
Nonetheless, outstanding. Playing like this, one of the very best in the world.

Quitely did his business throughout the tournament

Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling in team of tournament

Stones played 2 more games and was by far the better of the two centre backs . I dont get this at all.
Teams of tournaments are about the most pointless load of bollox in sport.....tbh anybody that gives a fuck, has school In the morning;)

I agree completely. Englands best defender by a country mile apart from the first half hour of the first game.

It’s to do with what Joe Public classed as their team of the tournament if I read it correctly. Let’s face it JP go off what the stupid media tell them.

To my mind, and I acknowledge that I may be considered biased, the three players of the tournament were: John (Boy)Stones, Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling! I am Josephine Public!! :-)

You are correct, Maguire did well coming back from injury to play.

It also suited him a lot with 2 DM, a 3rd CB against the better teams and also it all being in front of him.

Stones ability is that he can play like that, but also more on the front foot at City.

Both I felt had a similar threat in the opposing box, albeit Maguire scored. He also took his penalty well.

Overall, I would have given it to Stones as we did not concede in either of the first 2 games, where Mings was there.

However, I cannot deny Maguire had a very good tournament and nor would I want to despite club preference.

I think Luke Shaw deserved to be in there. The assists he made and his goal in the final where huge for England.

However, if I watched the Euro’s and could pick any player to be at my club it would have been Sterling. The guy was class!!

Hopefully City can announce a contract extension soon! I think his deal expires next year.
