Any news on his injury and return?

The weeks seem to slip by, and he doesn’t appear any closer to playing.

A real shame, but you have to think he’ll do well to be at the club next season.

Yes I’m starting to think one more injury and that’s it for him. He is a Rolls Royce of a player but this season has been unfit to play in around half our games.

The injuries are an absolute shame, but in terms of being at the club next season it is probably a mixture of injury and wages will mean he is not here.

We might have to accept, on alot of these players we need to move on from like John and Jack, a massively reduced transfer fee, simply to free up their wages.

Not looking good, is it?

Be fuckin’ heartbroken when Jonny Boulders leaves.

But this season’s injuries might be a step too far. I think he’ll be saved by the fact his contract isn’t due up, though, and nobody will pay him the wages he wants with his record.

Personally I’d keep him forever. His approach, mentality and ability would be hugely beneficial for Reis and Khusanov. But he’d have to reduce his wage to do it, you’d imagine.

Could we do something similar to spurs with ledley king just dont train fully, keep him for match days and maximum one game a week

I’d hope not. Spurs could afford to do that because they were shite. Given Pep’s tactical demands and our aspirations as a football club, the idea that one of our starting central defenders wouldn’t be training with the rest of the side is in no way desirable

I agree but tryna think of a way of him benefiting us, he Cannot play 2-3 games a week. Hes on big money. I love him world class player but 180 k or whatever hes on a week is not good value for someone whos available 3rd of the season. No one will buy him due to those reasons. So we have to find a solution

The solution is you hope Saudis are interested or you come to an agreement and pay half his wages to go elsewhere. Id rather get the squad space and save half the wages then be waiting to see if John can put more than three games together.

Not sure there is a great solution, unfortunately. I think he sees out his contract next season and hopefully we can afford to give him more recovery time now we're less stretched for central defenders and maybe he gets on the pitch a bit more often

Calling time on his England career probably wouldn't hurt either

Could see him seeing out his contract and retiring if he isn't sold this summer. The injuries are just too much and no club is going to give him the wages he wants given his age and availability issues.
