he doesn't deserve to stay here anymore, not because of the terrible matches, but because he is never available

Stones didnt do all that much wrong really. That pass into Akanji is probably the poorest thing he did all game. Was stupid to have him see out his second 90 minutes in 5 days when there was 3 defenders on the bench.

Can't pass quickly when there's nobody open to pass to. He's only spending so long pointing because nobody is free to receive the pass, slow movement ahead of him forces the delay from all our defenders.
 
Stones has always been poor without a leader next to him. Kompany or Dias and he plays his role perfectly. He should be the man to step up when he isn't next to a player like that but he doesn't. Of course he plays the ball out well (not today) and treble season came into midfield beautifully. He is now unreliable and hasn't reached anywhere near them levels since. Such a shame, will go out a legend

He’s not the only one to make mistakes…….but he had a hand in the first three today……the pass to Akanji…….and the next two where he backed off and backed off and invited the shot.

Shocking defending !

You want players to shoot from outside the box. They rarely result in goals.

They got lucky today. The deflection could have gone anywhere.

There was nothing wrong with his pass to Akanji, Partey’s shot was going wide at the near post and it was a freak that it went in, and while he wasn’t great for Ian Skelly’s goal Akanji was out of position and BSilva and Marmoush allowed Skelly to run unopposed into the box.
 
Stones has never been a top level defender a top level footballer yes. Look at the Arsenal lads at the back, credit where is due they are top
Level defenders at defending.
 
Stones was great till 1:1. Then he was involved in the next 3 goals. They weren't mistakes on his part, just not top defending. The pass to Akanji was risky too, the safe option was to pass to Ortega. Akanji made the mistake, but it's better to avoid such moments vs Real. Keep it safe.
