He’s been one of our best players recently. Today was a game too far and now we’re going to miss him again and for a while. But when it comes to letting go of injury prone defenders in the summer he should be bottom of the list. He’s a level above Akanji and Ake when fit and he’s a leader also. We need him around just to perform that role with the new players and even if it’s only for 20 games a season he’s a massive player for us. Not everyone can be binned off in the summer
Thank you. :-)

We should be letting go of all injury prone players.
Squad planning has gone to the dogs if you're bringing on injury prone Ake to replace injured Stones.
Our whole defence is injury prone bar Gvardiol. We can’t let them all go. Someone has to stay. The point is if anyone stays to guide the new players and also provide a bit of class for 20 games then it’s Stones over the rest of them. You getting rid of Dias too then are you?

We should have let them go according to the period in their career they are getting regular injuries.
It doesn't happen to them all at once.
Akanji and Dias weren't getting injured that much previously. I don't recall Akanji being out with many injuries prior to this recent one.

It’s simple we need to change or our kit and play in white a splash or red and blue ( England ) then suddenly miracles happen and he can play more than 3 games
Our best defender but can’t stay on the pitch time to move him on unfortunately

But it is all happening at once. So who are you moving on?

Liabilty is a too strong word but he can no longer be fully relied upon. I would move Ake on first before Stones as we are likely to get decent money for him and with Stones' contract running out at the end of next season and he could still provide some cover.

We are in the shit because we kept players past their best, we won titles by being relentless and if we are keeping players on who spend too much time in the recovery room than on the pitch we are doing it wrong.

What a performance against Newcastle but we can't carry all these players based on sentimentality, love the guy to death but get rid.

Let's be honest, most of us would have looked good against a dreadful Newcastle side. Real Madrid in the Bernabeu is a different story.

I’d move Akanji on before those pair, all about opinions innit football, it’s great

Go take a long run off a short pier!
Been a massive fan of this lad, as I know you are. A great player for our club. But John and a couple of our other centre backs have been competing for the Darren Anderton trophy for the last couple of years now. We simply can never get the same back four on the field, for more than two consecutive games.

TV said 17th different back four of the season tonight!

I totally understand this reaction what I was reacting to was the remark about him always being available for England.
I apologise for my rudeness but I hope you understand that it was (over) reaction to people always bringing up the fact that he played for England.
Yes he did but he wasn't injured. As I have reiterated over and over again, he does not go out of his way to injure himself, it happens, it happens to others as well but somehow the fact that JB plays for England gets held against him.

If you (or I) were good enough to play for England would we turn down the opportunity? No we wouldn't, well I wouldn't but then it would be a blooming miracle if I played for them me being a woman!! *lol*

As I say I am sorry I told you to do that running thing that was extremely rude and disgusting of me. :-)

Yeah he would provide cover by covering the open spaces on the bench. How is Ake the one to move on when Stones has been unreliable since he got here?

Stats only form part of the picture.
That's a great argument. What else would you consider? It's like people keep moving the post, you criticize a fan favourite and it's "Oh but the stats says otherwise" and then you quote the stats for someone who certain people don't rate and it's "Stats are only a part of the picture". Make your fucking minds up

No dramas Eccles, I fully understand, and find you a good fun poster. I am just so frustrated with the repeated injuries to Johnny, Ake, Dias and Akanji. As a former defender I always like to see an unchanged back four. Don't bother re rudeness, my wife and three daughters often comment how rude and abrupt I can be. Take care
