5 | John Stones - 2025/26

A top player should be aware what's happening around him. Stones isn't a novice in the PL, he should know that he hasn't much time on the ball.
Yeah maybe so - however, the players that don't need telling are the ones of the Silva/Iniesta quality who constantly look over their shoulders and know when and where a tackle is going to happen, then shape their bodies to avoid losing the ball. Paul Lake was another who always seemed to have more time than others because his head was on a stick looking this way and that. John yesterday ran forward not once checking his shoulders that is why he was caught on the ball - my point is most players at any level need communication.

Truth be told though he was the least of our issues yesterday but it's not a great look being so easily dispossessed.

I love Boulders and have always rated him very highly. Sadly, his time might well be coming to an end here, given he started all the games we’ve lost this season and came on at the Emirates at 0-1. For some inexplicable reason, when he came on City advanced up the pitch, and then conceded the equaliser from a ball over the top.

Took a look at stones' injury record and it depressed me. We were robbed of seeing him more,he holds a special place in my heart

Sadly, it’s hard to see City spending even more money on him. He might earn a crust elsewhere (Sunshine location in the States?), but given his personality, I think he could be an excellent pundit.

TBH, not sure of his football history or knowledge, but if Micah can make a good living, Stonesy should be able to print money.

Better when he's not in the side at the moment I think. Lack of pace and the sacrifice of Nico O reilly not worth it for what he gives us.

Stones is a great option when he's fit. He will get plenty of chances starting with Dortmund. Right now Dias and Gvardiol are our best CB combo, but the season is long. The longer he stays fit, the better he will get. He may well get a new contract if he is mostly fit this season.

If he stays fit City as a team will get a lot better. Still a top class player.
