5 | John Stones - 2025/26

Not having a go at you..but I do dislike the way we as fans talk of our injured footballers.
Made of glass.. particularly gets me angry.
John Stones is not made of effing glass. He is a strong rugged old school centre half
Who in his time with Barnsley Everton City and England has put his body on the line ,straining every sinew in his body to ....Defend.
That would be all well and good if he was getting injured in the game because he had overstretched himself to stop a shot or get a tackle in but hes getting injured seemingly doing nothing. Kompany had a load of injuries because he put his body on the line every game.

Stone has played 30mins of premier league football in the past three matches yet is now injured, it's not normal.

His obsession with being fit for England has quite rightly rubbed city fans up the wrong way and likely the club too.

I can't remember the team against who he made the miraculous goal line clearance..was it Liverpool? ......Centre backs take so much punishment,so many blows, I'm proud of John Stones and what he has achieved at City,I'm very impressed with his silky passing skills and technique..but.he has always ,to me, also done the basics of a traditional centre half
Hard in the challenge, never ever wimping out of a tackle, strong in the air, refused to be bullied on the ground and no slouch in sprinting to cover ground..

Injuries are gonna happen......I think back to Denis Smith at Stoke city, their captain for over a decade in the 70s....broke every bone in his body defending his team.....was he " made of glass"?

We should not disrespect brave centre backs who have put their bodies on the line for City, never caused any off field issues, consummate Professional football player.
Hard as nails.
I still think there is life in the old dog yet.......he has earned that Lee way
A fantastic Defender. Great player. One of the best I've ever seen play the game.

Your post really cheered me up :)

As important as Rodri during the treble season.
He's only 31 and should be in his prime years. It must be so mentally tough for him to keep training with the expectation that his body is going to fail him again and again.
I've got no issue with him playing for England. I guess he just wants to play as much as possible, whilst he can

It’s not even funny anymore. The money we’re spunking on him for such little return.
Madness from you - and utterly disrespectful.
Has he struggled recently - yes.
But you did see the post regarding what he's helped us win didn't you???? *slaps forehead*

I’m not questioning what he’s won here so why refer to it? It’s about value for money here and now.

His body was actually done after the treble. He should’be been sold last summer. Incredible story just unfortunate his body gave up on him.

I wonder what the club does with Ake who wants to leave
