5 live just now - Stadium Increase

Expanding stands would mean we would have a reduced capacity for a specified time. Digging down would mean we would have to play elsewhere till it was completed.

That wouldn't be a problem. City could just buy Old Trafford from the Glazers. United would have to go elsewhere, probably ground sharing with Arsenal or Chelsea, or to the Olympic Stadium in Beijing.

Re: 5 live just now.

If the Telegraph article is to believed, plans for expanding the stadium will only be executed after the City Academy and surrounding areas have been developed, which is going to take at least 3 years. Assuming one year for expanding the stadium, I would like to think our fan-base will have grown substantially enough to consistently fill the 75,000 seats in the coming 4 years..

No thanks, would leave Manchester without a football club.

70K Stadium Increase (Sunday Paper)

Just been mentioned on Sunday Supplement. Club planning to icrease the capacity of COMS to 70K.(?)

Didn't catch what Sunday paper it's in. Anyone seen the article? If so, any chance you can give a brief overview.

Cheers.

PS. Come on City!

Re: 70K Stadium Increase (Sunday Paper)

Probaby rumour, with not one actual quote.

I can't see the club redeveloping the stadium tomorrow, the main focus in redevelopment right now is the campus and transport links to and from the stadium.

once this infrastructure is inplace and public transport is much more flowing then I think a stadium increase may be on the cards.

or they keep the same capacity, increase our ticket prices alot and force many of us out of the stadium, leaving the tickets for the daytrippers/corporates
