He will not use them anyway
His only chance of getting on is multiple injuries never going to be involved in a tactical switch. This clearly shows the depth of the lie about the strength of the City squad we are fed continuously. We have about 16 or 17 regulars add in a few injuries/suspensions and we are short staffed.I asked in the match thread, but why was Delap on the bench today? He clearly had no intention of using him, so why even bother?
He wouldn’t often use 5 subs. But he would use them more than now. He usually makes 2 more subs when he has 5 available than when he can only use 3. So 3 subs when he would normally only make 1. To some extent he wouldn’t have a choice. If our opponents regularly use 4 or 5 and we only use 1, we’re going to be at a big fitness disadvantage late on in games. He will not use them anyway
Isnt it still the same 3 sub 'windows' but you can change 5 players? Shouldnt be any different time wise to 3 subsMy immediate thought is one that’s been made on here. Basically this is going to be a gift to all those teams that come to the Ethiad and time waste from the first minute.
Referees do nothing about to penalise teams that do it expect a perfunctory yellow card on 80 plus mins.
Potential to be as irritating as VAR.
Not a bad idea, but it almost certainly won't happen.Given that we will have a few players new to Pep's system more sub opportunities might make it easier to get them up to speed.
It might be useful to allow Ortega to get some first team minutes under his belt rather than waiting for domestic cups and chumps league dead rubbers.
You could be right but more numbers involved means more messing around. If refs apply the rules correctly it may be okay. But we shall see.Isnt it still the same 3 sub 'windows' but you can change 5 players? Shouldnt be any different time wise to 3 subs
I know the circumstances were exceptional, but I seem to recall that Pep often used all five during the restart after the CoViD suspension, including Academy lads. You could be right but more numbers involved means more messing around. Pep actually said on tv after the Villa game to watch how many subs he will make next season, might of been tongue in cheek & a wink at the teams who tried stopping it, but I think making a lot of subs will almost force other teams into doing the same, players who don’t feature for them every week will want game time & point to City etc doing just that, which will weaken them more than usNot a bad idea, but it almost certainly won't happen.
Barring injuries, I'll be very surprised if Pep makes more than three changes in any PL game
The league was done then was it not. The dippers great triumph!!I know the circumstances were exceptional, but I seem to recall that Pep often used all five during the restart after the CoViD suspension, including Academy lads.
He gave Tommy Doyle his Premier League debut during this time.
