23rd Jan 1971, Chelsea 0 City 3, FA cup 4th round. Chelsea were the cup holders and City previous winners.
I remember it well as it was the first City victory I had ever attended. (2 defeats previously). I had just turned 14 and this was the first game without my Dad, cost 8 shillings for a seat in the home stand (decimal money was 4 weeks away).
As seems rather fitting it was a game dominated by the King, Colin scored 2 and involved in 3rd.
Strange fact i think Chelsea wore yellow shirts at home for some reason maybe because it was still B & W days for some TV.
Other thing i remember, Joe Mercer and Colin being interviewed on Friday Newsnight or whatever it was, very humble, polite and hopeful of a good game. As it was !

If there was a colour clash in the Cup then both teams wore their 2nd kit.

I remember my mate went to that game. On the TV "highlights" - no live coverage back then - it looked like we had three attacks and scored against the run of play. But he told me we were all over them.

I went to that game as a kid with my dad. In our car was Paul Hince’s brother Tommy.
Seem to recall king Colin scoring a blinder.

I've got that programme in a big box somewhere in my loft - I don't buy them any more thanks to my seasoncard.
A bloody awful day, heavy pitch, and we were lucky to be drawing at half time. A complete turn round in the second half and ran out worthy winners.
We played them again less than 3 months later in another cup competition, the ECWC semi final first leg. I remember that match better, as it was my 21st birthday that day!

Yes remember that too.
I just turned up hour before kick off paid cash on the gate for a European Semi Final !
Not checked was Ron Healey in goal or was that at Maine Rd.
Injury hit side that night, some things never change.

I was based at HMS Dolphin in Gosport
I arrived by train to London from Portsmouth & there were hundreds of Arsenal fans getting the train to Portsmouth for there cup game
Thought I might get a slap but they just wished us luck against Chelsea
Went again later in the season for the European Cup Winners Cup match
