6 months and what a difference for Cooky

You may be, but I have always said he has been doing a good job.

Yet again, its a lot on here who make snap judgements, and aren't willing to either see the big picture, or give people time to do their jobs. This goes for players, managers, coaches executives and even the tea lady.

People need a bit of time to settle and bed in, and people should wait for at least a 10 mins before posting something derogatory about some one who is only trying to improve our club, and that's everyone there at the moment and all the new arrivals.

Notice you couldn`t be arsed to put into bold print that at least I`ve held my hands up since.
Good bit of journalism on your part, basically ignore the small print !! lol

I salute you for admitting you were wrong, but my main point isn't who was wrong or who was right, as no one will be truly right as its a matter of opinion.

My main point is the speed at which people make judgements on the staff (Players, back room and board room) at the club. This is were you made an initial snap judgement, that you now believe was incorrect, yet you wouldn't have to have repented if you gave cook more time to show his true ability.

Cook was shit, now he's great. Ireland was a world beater, no he isn't any good.

I'm not saying you do this all the time, but too many on here are so polar in their views, and change their beliefs quicker than Russell Brand, just because of they are to impatient to give the person time to settle and adapt.

Fair point !!
However I did believe that Cook made some bad decisions and some classic "verbal howlers" prior to 2010.
However I do applaud his recent work which has now shown that "mouth shut and prove you are worth it" has worked and benifited both the Club and its Supporters and long may it continue !!

Public Image

Was a laughing stock, and deservedly so, for some of his gaffs and his eagerness to get in fron to the camera (the Tevez hug a particular, yet underated farce of publicity hunting) but he has cut it back recently. Thank feck for that. Long may it continue.

The Hughes Sacking

Did absolutely nothing wrong in my eyes and explained the whole situation perfectly. Deliberately misrepresented by the press and the public at large (iincluding some city fans) to make out he had made a mess of it and been underhand. He hadn't. He fronted up and told the truth. Nothing more, nothing less.

Signings

Doubt anyone here knows whether he is responsible for these or how much he gets involved. No reason to suspect he is doing anything other than a good job on this. However, I suspect that the people lining up to praise him for the signings would be slating him if Thaksin was still here, we were skint and we were signing bums on frees. That would be ridiculous too.

Fans

Really gets on my wick this one. Seems to make a point of meeting and gladhanding as many fans as possible. All very nice but ultimately meaningless if actions don't back it up. Has overseen a regime that has talked the talk about fans and made a point of contacting many. However, on the issues that really affect fans we have season ticket prices going up, food and drink going up, parking going up, people being shafted out of their seats. Completely at odds with the 'fan's man' image he likes to portray. Every penny being squeezed out of the fans whilst the club takes a 'fuck the cost' approach in every single other area of its business. I don't buy his 'pro the fans' speil. I think he is in favour of changing the demographic of the fans and attracting a new, bigger spending breed. His rhetoric suggests otherwise, but his actions don't. Mind you, he built an undercover ticket office and bought a few people a drink, so...

His proper job

Running the club efficiently and effectively. Reorganising key areas and making the right appointment. I haven't a clue how he is doing. Most people won't have. No reason to suspect he is not doing a good job and this is what he will be judged on by the owners. If this is going well then he is, in the eyes of the owners, a man worthy of the job. The same position I suspect they took when he was portrayed as a laughing stock. If he is doing a good job behind the scenes then he is doing his job. Not many people have a clue whether he is or isn't though, so it makes me laugh when we get "what a poor/good job" Garry Cook is doing that are really based upon whether the team is performing/looking good or whether he has taken the time to speak to them personally

In terms of football, if the media hate a person, that's a very good reason to take the opposite view. The media hate him but I love Gary Cook.

Never had a problem with cook he wasnt supposed to be the media front for CIty he just accidently happened upon it and it turned out he was shit. Therefore no longer put in that posistion, now 100% does what he supposed to be doing making us bigger and better

For me though, what is the point of Marwood, i just dont understand what he does???

Marwood is City's Football Administrator which simplisticly is the person responsible for the day-to-day administrative tasks of running a football club. Cook deals more with the business side of things like arranging sponsorships and financing for the club etc.

Marwood's job is to ensure the club has a sound footballing strategy and that they are in line with new regulations and such. Also is likely responsible for running player development programs, community outreach programs, etc. Generally, the football administrator is seen as someone who assists the manager in the administrative duties but his role with Manchester City seems to be more as the manager's watchdog.

Marwood along with the manager (first Hughes and now Mancini) and several other members of the club's executive are the ones who determine player acquisition strategy. This is why Hughes was opposed to him being appointed in the first place. Hughes was assured Marwood would be there to assist him, but I think Marwood often had competing ideas and personally I think it was there inability to work together which finally prompted the owners to remove Hughes.

So comparing the prices for what you pay now, which should be a title challenging side, to what we were paying under Pearce. You think we are getting bad value for money? Go and have a look at the United prices, there you'll see a club takin advantage of thier fans.

Rise in food prices? Again look at the quality before you judge things.

You either seem like A) a tight arse B) A moaner C) All of the above

So Cook is the Business man and Marwood is the football guy that runs it behind the scenes got it

So whay does everyone hate Marwood as well?
