Marwood is City's Football Administrator which simplisticly is the person responsible for the day-to-day administrative tasks of running a football club. Cook deals more with the business side of things like arranging sponsorships and financing for the club etc.

Marwood's job is to ensure the club has a sound footballing strategy and that they are in line with new regulations and such. Also is likely responsible for running player development programs, community outreach programs, etc. Generally, the football administrator is seen as someone who assists the manager in the administrative duties but his role with Manchester City seems to be more as the manager's watchdog.

Marwood along with the manager (first Hughes and now Mancini) and several other members of the club's executive are the ones who determine player acquisition strategy. This is why Hughes was opposed to him being appointed in the first place. Hughes was assured Marwood would be there to assist him, but I think Marwood often had competing ideas and personally I think it was there inability to work together which finally prompted the owners to remove Hughes.

So Cook is the Business man and Marwood is the football guy that runs it behind the scenes got it

So whay does everyone hate Marwood as well?

I think the hate for Marwood is due to the Hughes' sacking. He was brought in against Hughes' wishes:

and many thought he basically spent his time undermining Hughes' to the owners.

As with any press story, the truth is usually sensationalized but it's my personal belief that Hughes feuding with Marwood was the real reason he was moved on in mid-season last year.

Fans

Really gets on my wick this one. Seems to make a point of meeting and gladhanding as many fans as possible. All very nice but ultimately meaningless if actions don't back it up. Has overseen a regime that has talked the talk about fans and made a point of contacting many. However, on the issues that really affect fans we have season ticket prices going up, food and drink going up, parking going up, people being shafted out of their seats. Completely at odds with the 'fan's man' image he likes to portray. Every penny being squeezed out of the fans whilst the club takes a 'fuck the cost' approach in every single other area of its business. I don't buy his 'pro the fans' speil. I think he is in favour of changing the demographic of the fans and attracting a new, bigger spending breed. His rhetoric suggests otherwise, but his actions don't. Mind you, he built an undercover ticket office and bought a few people a drink, so...

So comparing the prices for what you pay now, which should be a title challenging side, to what we were paying under Pearce. You think we are getting bad value for money? Go and have a look at the United prices, there you'll see a club takin advantage of thier fans.

Rise in food prices? Again look at the quality before you judge things.

You either seem like A) a tight arse B) A moaner C) All of the above

Another with this ridiculous, childish argument.

I doubt you'll address the difference between his rhetoric and actions, they never do, but I'll invite you to anyway.

Whilst you are at it, why don't you also tell me how on Earth the price of a ticket relates to the quality of the team?

Is my season ticket paying for Toure's wages? Was it touch and go whether they were going to sign Silva but they just managed to scrape it together thanks to the parking increase?

Go on, I'm begging you to explain the relationship in context with the other expenditure and income at the club (no doubt the ridiculously vague "er, UEFA might be doing something, I've heard" might rear its head).

Anyway, it seems tht me and you, and the rest of the "you mustn't be a city fan, we've got good players now" brigade are coming at things from a different angle. My desire to go and watch City has feck all to do with the quality of player or whether they are flying high. Yours, it seems, is closely linked to the success of the team. Presumably you will be expecting massive price cuts if success doesn't arrive. You know, to make your argument consistent. Luckily for the club, when we went down to division two there were plenty around whose decision to go was not based on whether the prices reflected the quality of player on show. Perhaps that seems a weird concept, I don't know.

I couldn't comment as i don't how instrumental he has been in the signings.

most of the transfer dealings are handled by marwood and wallace - once the targets are agreed. its been this way for over a year now
