One of his best and controlled games in a City top. Very happy for the lad and who knows, with Dias injured, he may show what he is about nowadays in a huge game. I hope he gets his chance and shows Pep he is more than a back up.

What did Laporte do wrong today?
We won but some people are challenged in some way.

Thing is, he's not doing anything differently than he was at the start of the season when a large portion of people now praising him were demanding we got rid and were posting idiotic things like we've lost before kick off after seeing Ake start.

Said in the pre-match thread I expected him to start this game as our best aerial defender even before stones had his niggle, he came in and not only dominated in the air and did his job effectively but he shone in doing it. A great asset to have. Finding squad options you can rely on who know their role and aren't kicking up a stink like him and zinchenko are every bit as vital in a squad as your kdbs.

Don't think he's played enough recently to keep his place against Madrid or dippers unless stones isn't fit but he can be pleased with his work and the more he continues to be reliable the more Pep will use him.

Good post. Think his confidence and positivity on the ball like so many Pep signings have improved in his second season. Love unsung players like him and Oleks
