You Dutch by any chance? Your love for Ake matched only by your hatred for Aymeric. Strange take on things.
I do not hate Laporte, I just said against Arsenal and Madrid, Saka and Rodrygo would have a field day. Ake is in form and he has handled Saka with ease. Love and Hate are such strong emotions, you can not just dispatch them so easily.

Nathan is injured so someone has to play lb and eric is the best option , like it or not

Ake was been giving a right runaround first half last night too. Laporte is every bit as good a defender and has a better pass in him to boot. Not an issue really.
What you are overlooking is Ake has more speed than Laporte which is a key in a matchup with a player like Saka

Laporte is a good defender, but he is not the greatest against elite. He's got 5-6 BIG mistakes at UCL (2 Tottenham, 2 Lyon, not going out to stop Vinicius last year + his stupid penalty), and even this year against Nottingham the intensity of his defense in the goal was laughable. Laporte is a defender that doesn't have the concentration and intensity (and I would say the love for defending) as Dias or Ake.

Laporte is a classy defender with great build up from the back, but his defense is not that great, and I think going by his history in the biggest stages, being worried about is logical.

Given Akanji's relative comfort with both feet, I wonder if we might consider him on the left of the back 3/4, with Walker on the right

Walker's obviously very comfortable with the right-back role and has played on the right of a back three for England a few times. His experience against Martinelli and (especially) Vinicius could be vital

The question is how well Akanji would do in the left-back part of the job

The disrespect for laporte is awful this is a guy who's had salah in his pocket at klanfield arguably our best defender and very good on the ball. Yes he lacks a bit of pace but do you really think pep will set us up so teams can exploit that?
BOTM pal. Some people can’t stifle their negative emotions. The reality is that injuries happen, and Pep will do what he always does, keep calm and juggle his resources accordingly. Since Mandy’s various issues Pep has converted Delph, Zinchenko and Ake into left backs. Laporte is an a cell ent back up, been a stalwart for us, regular for Spain, played when inJured when we had defensive injury issues last season.

He isn't as good of a defender. If he was he'd be starting easily. Seeing as he is a better on the ball player. The reason why Ake starts is because of how much better he is as a defender.

Sorry wrong quote. Was meant for the other fella

What do you suggest? Bernie? Lewis? Phillips? Walker? Akanji?

Laporte will have to fill the gap.
If we get end of last season Laporte then we're sorted.

Worry is when he came on the left side on Saturday he was completely oblivious to the winger making runs. Will have to learn the full back role quickly

The problem is that I don’t think he has ever played there in his professional career. Similarly, it would be a bit of a snub for Laporte.

And to be fair, Ake is not exactly rapid either.

Imo Ake has been absolutely brilliant this season and is a serious contender for player of the year.

He struggled last night against the pace of Coman, sonething I’m sure Pep will have made note of for when we play RM, who also hVe speedy wingers.

I haven’t seen any news today on his injury but if it’s a hamstring doesn’t that mean he’ll be out four to six weeks ? If that’s the case we will obviously miss him but Laporte is a World Class defender and a very adequate replacement.

Depends are severity

He was, and still is, popular with Bournemouth fans, he was always up for getting kids interested in the game and I think a number of Bournemouth fans will be happy to see him having such an excellent season for us. He got an ovation when City played at Bournemouth earlier this year. I hope his injury is soon healed, we need him for the run-in, and hopefully the Champions League semis

It’s far from ideal. Unless we go 3 at the back with wingbacks!

Can see pep keeping the same system now the players are used to it and we are on an unbeaten run.
