He actually had a couple of good line breaking passes that surprised me.

There was a moment in the last 10 or 15 mins where in our half he slid a ball to Bernie who was the highest player up the pitch and Bernie did not expect it, but that was a good chance wasted by Bernie and done well by Ake.

He was better than Dias imo.
no way. Dias was superb today

He was, and its fine to think Dias was better.

For me on defenders, I highly value no mistakes and thats why he edged it for me.

Dias played a bad ball tk Ake in one moment and gave away possession and also needlessly played around with it on the halfway line and was fortunate he was fouled and the player didnt get the ball cleanly.

The raw defendinf aspects were superb but with what i mentioned compared to Ake who made no mistakes and made some nice line breaking passes, he edged it for me.

Continues to put in faultless performances and without having the benefit of a continued run in the side. Deserves the same chance of keeping the shirt as any of the others, he's had the most pre-season and looked better than Dias once again today. it's about time people start giving this guy respect shitty comments about being worried about Ake before kick-off have been outdated for 6 months now. Superb player and invaluable to the squad.

Solid but he was up against nothing, not a test for any of our defenders today, not a game to judge them.

Stonsy and Dias can repat that 20/21 spring run again. Rock solid back duo

Ake at this level is better than Laporte

Got to say this: I have more and more faith in him. He'll always be found wanting, perhaps, against the very best. But then, who isn't? There's no shame in looking uncomfortable against the likes of Salah and Benzema. Against anything lower than the very best teams, he looks thoroughly comfortable. He's a better defender than Zin ever was, although Zin had a through ball on him that Aké will never have. That said, Aké's use of the ball when moving forward is becoming more creative. It's visible. He doesn't simply defer to Rúben any more.
Laporte, Stones: are they really that much better than him, at this point? I genuinely find myself wondering.

Why is the John Stones thread shut?
Was going to ask if anybody thinks Ake is better than Stones?

Are you looking at this years thread? It's open
