The slack this fella gets on here blows my mind. Since he has become a fixture in this side, we can’t stop conceding goals. We have gone from clean-sheet kings to conceding every week, yet Ake is apparently is doing a sterling job. He is playing slightly better than Akanji and what a glowing reference that is at the moment.
We are supposed to be the Harrods of the football world, yet are playing Poundland CBs every week. The sooner we get our real CBs back and we stop fucking around with two guys that wouldn’t get in any of our supposed weaker rivals sides the better.

Relatively speaking I would agree. I think he is playing good for him, as in I don’t remember him playing better here, or at any of previous clubs. However Ake “good” is absolutely miles below what we have seen previously from other CBs at the club. He is passable for a dozen games per season to give others a rest. He’s not good enough to play every week in a side that expects to win the PL/CL.One of the reasons why we are conceding so many goals this season is because we don't have a settled defence due to rotation or injuries. Both Stones and Dias ( who I feel are our best cb pairing) or injury prone, but Dias 's form hasn't exactly been great this season and I would say Ake whilst not perfect has been in good form.
TBH I’d rather have him at LB out of the way. Him and Akanji are all over the show positionally. Ake is fine when the ball is right in front of him to win, but he is so easy to play around. He’s been here a fair amount of time now but he still defends like he is at Bournemouth.Good defender but he’s not a left back.

Yep, if defending is stripped back to its simplest form he is perfectly serviceable… tackle, head it…no problem, but he still looks like he was signed last week. Positionally, he doesn’t seem to have learned a thing since he came to the club.Hes an excellent raw defender.
Doesnt get dribbled past much, aggressive in tackles and wins alot, good aerially even though not very tall. I still love that we have him.
But holy he was so ill disciplined in that LB spot I was shocked. Perhaps instructed to do that I dont know, but Tottenham destroyed us by going down the empty space he left every time.

It’s not over the top because we are conceding goals for fun. We have gone from being historically rock-solid at the back to goals flying in against us every game. He is part of that problem and I am amazed that people keep coming on here, ignoring the facts that are in front of them and stating how good he is while Akanji gets all the stick.Ake was immense tonight and deserves his place in the side.
