So many crosses today without a forward being there for the tap-in. So, congrats to Ake for being the only player today being at the right place at the right time, and manage to score!

btw: Wasn't that supposed to be so easy, when playing for us?

What a bloke. Also fair play to Hojberg in this clip, backs out of booting it as hard as he can it seems.

Look at Richarlison there. A swan dive with his hand in the air claiming a foul, gets back up and immediately hs his hands in the air again, claiming another free kick. If he concentrated on playing football, instead of appealing to referees, he might accomplish something with his game.

This. I genuinely adore Ake. Absolutely made up he’s the one who broke the curse last night. Never gets the plaudits he deserves.
Agree 100%. he seems to be a top guy, level headed and intelligent and so pleased for him. you never hear him mouthing off like some others, getting into trouble - just solid, reliable and now right in tune with what Pep wants.
some of the stick he got when he first came and also after that error v Leicester at Wembley was too much. despite his match winners v the Arse and dippers and last night, I still think that 20 mins away to Athletico was magnificent when he put everything on the line in that cauldron if pressure and Athletico blitz.

Really seems to be enjoying his football at the moment. Comfortable on the ball, settled with Gvardiol and Rodri, and always looking for that space ahead of him to exploit.

Very good 95% of the time, but it was a school-error from him today. Feels like a concentration lapse or something. Again, good otherwise, but makes that occasional mistake like against Crystal Palace, Spurs, Wolves, and now Brentford.

Strongly disagree it was a concentration thing. He simply got done for strength. whilst theres clearly some culpability on his part, I don't even really see that as an error as such.

I'd want my centre half to be stronger there but I'm giving credit where it's due to the Striker, it was a great piece of play and he knew exactly what he was doing.

He was superb overall once again. Undropable for me in the big games, just need to keep him fit.

Whilst Ake was muscled out on the goal, it was more disappointing that we seemed that we hadn’t prepared for that both tactically pre match and preventing it when it happened

Very good player

I think he needed to be stronger with Toney, or at least anticipate what was going to happen better.

That said, it's really nitpicking in relation to how solid he is in general.
