I see that Ake, who rarely plays for us because he’s always injured, managed 62 minutes for his country.

I wish some of our phayers would give their heads a shake. Their first loyalty should be to the Club that pays them handsomely to keep a treatment table warm.
Players take pride in playing for their NT and representing their country

He was on the bench for the last two games of the domestic season and we chose not to play him. Far better that he goes and trains with his national side and gets some level of match fitness before the CWC. He’s way short of match fitness, based on last night’s showing, so better Koeman plays him for 60.
Nice way to thank a player that played through last year with a broken foot because of our injury crisis

He had an operation on his foot after playing in pain with a minor fracture FFS, and was only match-fit for the end of the season. Playing for the Netherlands is a good way to get him up to speed. He is, apparently, one of City’s most popular players off field and gives his all. I live in Bournemouth and fans of the club still rate him highly.

I rate him really highly as well which is why I want to see him playing for us, which he doesn’t do often enough as he’s always injured.

If I remember correctly the last time he played for the Netherlands he came back injured.

I get the pride thing but the Club has to be the priority imo.

He's been playing with a broken foot all season. Not sure you can doubt his application and dedication to City.

He’s made 10 league appearances this season.
I’m not really sure how that equates to “playing all season with a broken foot “

I’m not doubting his dedication and I repeat that I think he’s a great player. I’m just saying he needs to prioritise Club over Country.

He is also one of the best at mopping up after defensive mistakes, he has cleared off the line several times and also a handy player who goes up for corners and free kicks. Tricky because you could say the same for Jonny, but I would be surprised if they let either of them go this summer.

And who says he doesn’t other than you? It’s not hard to think Ake and Pep and the medical staff judged his situation and all felt Ake could actually work on his match fitness by playing for his national team. In fact the Dutch media reported that due to a conversation between City and the Dutch FA, Ake was looked after for not overplaying him. Complete logic imho. Everyone profits.
I think this has absolutely nothing to do with dedication or priority.

So he’s recovered from injury but should tell his country to fcuk off?

Hmmm.
