6 | Nathan Ake - 2025/26

TEAMtalk understands that Man City will be open to offers of around £25m for Ake in January.
The Dutch international’s potential availability has also attracted attention from across Europe. Clubs in Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 have registered interest, with the player keeping an open mind about a return to the continent

Its a world cup year, lets hope he will push hard to secure a move

The club will save his wages and will give more minutes to Khusanov and other youngsters.

If we want 25-30m as per reports, then we want him to stay this season. Nobody would pay that. His experience may be helpful as the season progresses.

Juve and Inter on the case: City star gets green light for winter transfer

Nathan Aké's time at Manchester City is coming to an end.

For years, Nathan Aké was a regular at Manchester City and delivered reliably - both as a center back and full-back.

This season, however, his services are in much less demand: Aké has only played five games in the Premier League so far, starting just once. On top of that, he has made a meager ten appearances in the Champions League; only in the insignificant EFL Cup did he play the full 90 minutes in both games. This is a record that Aké cannot be satisfied with, especially with regard to his place in the Dutch World Cup squad.

Transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri reports that Aké is a candidate for a transfer in the winter transfer window and that Man City would be willing to let him go. The Skyblues are reportedly not looking for a loan, but a permanent departure, and are asking for around €35 million for a sale.

For context: Aké moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2020 for €45 million, but his market value is currently estimated at only €22 million on Transfermarkt. The Dutchman's contract runs until 2027.

As Tavolieri explains, there are already some interested parties for Aké: In addition to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, who are preparing for the departure of Marc Guehi, Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus Turin are also said to have their eye on Aké.

After moving from the Netherlands to England at the age of 16, Aké has spent his entire professional career on the island.

Why do people gove these random stories any credence?

Won't be going anywhere without a replacement and there is no reason why we would be looking to do that mid-season.

I swear some people have no memory. Just because all defenders are currently fit, doesnt mean they're going to stay fit. Last season was primarily down to having too few defenders, we'd have to be genuinely mental to willingly put ourselves in that position again.

Ake's out of the picture now but he'll get his chance. Busy fixture schedule is approaching, injuries and suspensions will happen, he'll get games then it is on him to make himself first pick.

These "random stories" say that we are not pushing for a deal.
Ake himself may be open to a move though. He is nowhere near the first team at the moment.

Nobody is paying £25m for him. I doubt we'd let him go whilst the injury nightmare of last season is fresh in our minds. The two lads on loan probably need to stay out to avoid disrupting them too much, especially Reis

Without him the team already have 4 CBs ( Dias, Gvardiol, Stones, Khusanov )

For emergencies Nico Gonzalez or even Nico O'Reilly can play there or maybe there is someone from EDS.
But no other left-footed CB that can cover as naturally for Gvardiol, especially in systems where we ask the CBs to play as a three or move into wide positions

He will probably be leaving in the summer anyway with Reis or Bah coming in.

If it is true he wants to leave, then I'm sure the club will allow him to go

Don't have issue with him leaving in Jan. We'd still have 4 CB options, not to mention the possibility of recalling vitor reis or Bah, and I think injuries have worn him away a bit.

Be surprised if we let him leave mid season. We'll need him at some point.

Same. He’s been a good signing, probably at the end of the road now but with cup games and easy PL games along with hopefully dead CL games, he’ll be required

A steady Eddie, he’s done very well and I expect everyone will shake hands and go their separate ways at the end of the season
