Considering the two games he’s played in as his CL and PL debuts, thrown in at the deep end with no fit Dias or Stones to play alongside to help him through the game, Simpson-Pusey has done well and has looked quite calm and composed on the ball on the whole, with a few expected hesitant and unsure moments for a lad on his debuts.
He can be happy with that. Played well. His calmness was notable, his passing was quite dodgy at times in the first half but fair fucks to him for carrying on, looked more comfortable as the game went on and held his own.
If I had to pick who from our defence was making their premier league debut and who has nearly 50 senior appearances based off the performances alone, I'd be getting him and Rico the wrong way around.
Good on him. Might find himself sticking around and getting minutes when we've a healthier squad as his inclusion might allow us to play a centre back like akanji at full back instead of Lewis or walker.
The anti rodri. Poor guys lost every game so far. Sure he’s learned a hell of a lot though. Very bright future. Shame hes had to be thrown in at the deep end.
