Difficult time to arrive into a City team in turmoil and he does seem able to take a half decent corner so let's wait to see if we have wasted another wheelbarrow full of cash.

he needs the Leyton game imo to get a feel for a goal or an assist. just to get going really.
 
He would probs have a handful of goals already if David Silva was here. We’ve got a midfield who just doesn’t pass forwards

Of course the midfield pass the ball forwards.
But, not often enough with threatening, attacking balls.
Yesterday, Foden and Bernardo would far too often collect the ball in midfield and instantly pass it back to the defenders.
If a wide attacking player (notably Nunes) received the ball, they also passed it back to the defender, or sometimes played a slow passive ball, sideways.
There was no risk, jeopardy or quick passing when City had the ball, yesterday.
Arsenal were not that good until they scored their 3rd goal.
In fact, the quality of both teams in the first 70 minutes was bang average and both played with a "safety first" attitude.
As Arsenal were ahead so early, it was up to City to be offensive.
Unfortunately, I feel Pep had another of those games where he was far too cautious...

Just I don’t see him as a Kev more as an out and out striker.
I’m not bothered as I like what I see so far.
 
Direct runs off the ball will eventually work if we give him the ball. These runs will also open up space for haaland.

Unless Pep changes how he sets up the team (or the club changes the manager) I’m struggling to see how an electric attacker that likes the ball to feet will fit in a team that still seems to want to control the game through careful buildup and seems to hate any moments of individual brilliance.
Perhaps he is part is the first wave of a tactical change.

I’m hoping the latter. Our tactics were ground breaking and highly successful when our midfielders were icons at their peak. Great to watch too. Now every fkn pub team manager knows how to counteract our fragile, ageing team.

Interesting that the only top team we’ve beaten recently (Chelsea) played a suicidal high line whereas former cannon fodder play us for fat boys. It’s not just the high line, though, but the pace and the pointless passing.

Whether under Pep or his successor, we have to update the system to suit 2025 football. On that basis, I see Marmoush, Savinho, Doku, Haaland, Foden, etc as key figures in a new style City. Still some way to go on recruitment though.

Love his energy. But he needs to be better. His shooting is wild, he is offside a little too much and needs to be tighter with his passing.


His livewire mentality is a plus though. Exciting player.

Foden definitely does. Very positive pass to Savinho for our lone goal yesterday. Obviously, he had a stinker after that, but it's wrong to say he doesnt try things.

I simply have high expectations and I am not willing to pretend like someone had a good game when they didn't. I am not throwing the toys out, I believe in his ability, he will play better. But we need to be honest that he needs to. If his level of performance at city mirrored what we saw yesterday, that would be very bad. And it's okay to acknowledge that.
