That’s one of the reasons Wharton would be perfect for us. His default is to pass forward as soon as he gets it

If there’s one thing about Pep’s tactics - or the way in which some of our players (namely Gündoğan and B Silva) implement Pep’s tactics - it’s that we have stopped playing early balls to the runner.

Haaland and Foden suffer from this with our team, and now Marmoush the same.

Marmoush makes good early runs and is often ignored.

These are just two I’ve managed to screen shot since he’s been with us, clean through on goal both times. But it happens in every match.

I'd say he's done really well, especially considering the circumstances. Coming from a different league into a struggling team. He’s been shifted around into a different position almost every game and we haven’t come close to playing to his strengths. His pace, movement, and directness are top tier.

He’s only 21 for anybody writing him off.
 
The guy's still working himself into a new team in a new league. He's been played on the wing, in midfield, and up front. And he's playing for a team that's generally underperforming and has been way more conservative than unusual in order to protect clean sheets.

And yet he's got 10 G/A from 18 games. Over 50 games in a full season that's roughly 20 goals and 10 assists, which is roughly how much Alvarez (who Marmoush replaced, for £20m less) was contributing for City while he was here.

And that's with the team not playing to his strengths yet.

He's gonna be absolutely fine here. I actually think he's going to excel once he's settled. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing more of this lopsided 4-2-2-2 from City next season with Marmoush right on Haaland's shoulder, and I can't wait.

I hope Marmoush plays left on Haaland's shoulder :)
 
Beautiful balance on the ball; obviously has a goal in him; not afraid to try something that may not come off.

I always feel that something may happen when he's on the ball, which has not the case with many others this season.

I've said this before, but in the old days, with a couple of strikers like Erling and Omar in front of a largely ageing midfield, a team would have been playing 4-4-2 all day long. Not so much ground for the midfield to cover and there wouldn't be a defence in the world looking forward to facing our two.

Christmas tree formation, double pivot, inverted wingers - all very cute, but you should exploit your strengths. When Erl and Marmoush gel - if we use them properly - they could be unstoppable.
