I think we hang onto peps words far too much when it comes specifically to players and anything performance related. He ALWAYS backs players in front of media...i for one watched our amazon documentary to death and peps words always ring true. We'll see come the end of the season...the pecking order of contract renewals seems to be slightly telling mind, although i could be reading too much into that.Whilst everyone thinks they know what Sterling needs, I think it's important to remember that he's in the best possible hands at City with the club and coaching staff we have. It's clear from Pep's words and the club's desire to get him to sign a new deal that they believe in him fully.

I dont doubt our club for a second.
He needs support yet he is one of the top earners... He has got to go.I don't think Sterling really NEEDS anything right now. Obviously he needs to get back into the goals and playing with confidence, but I think it's just in his best interests to be working hard and digging deep with the knowledge that he'll bounce back soon enough.
One of the benefits of having a top manager and a high quality squad is that we can always get away with a player or two being out of form. Of course those scenarios aren't ideal but realistically they're alright.
If anything what he needs is to be shown the support and patience every other player who's come out of a rut was afforded by the club. Which I'm sure he's getting.
To an extent I agree with you.I think actually he's been harsher than ever in public with players. Maybe not singling anyone out, but he's certainly sent shots at Raz and Laporte via the media. I guess the thing for Pep is that regardless of your form, he'll back you if you work hard and keep the right attitude. But Ayme and Raz had to accept that their form was keeping them out and others in the side. When they complained Pep went public and said "when they come to my office I tell them to go and speak with their agents or show me on the grass why they deserve the be in the team".
Attitude is key to surviving under Pep. You can be less talented but the right efforts will take you a long way (look at Zinny or even Raz himself) and further than those who seem more talented than you.
EDIT:
I think Leroy is the best example of this. Talents for miles, but couldn't shift Raz because ultimately talent alone only goes so far. It's what you have in your heart and in your head that'll turn you into a true great.

Doesn't fit our style
To an extent I agree with you.
But if you have been given ample opportunity, and the technique and skills aren't there. You got to go.
The style we play doesn't suit his skillset and given the persenal that we have I doubt we will be changing that for the foreseeable future.
For me Sterling can have a great attitude somewhere else.
In contrast look at Zinchenko,. He has been pushed into left back learnt the skills and techniques to be consistently effective therefore he has a future here.
It's not for you to decide. The club want Sterling to sign a new contract and Pep views him as a key player in his squad. Everything else is just opinions about his current form.
There is an overwhelming consensus about his current form. The debate is how long is current because it falls outside of that for me.
I think the major discrepancy is about his skill set and how much that is worth.
If I know Sterling he'll play his way through this. There have been good signs recently. Those last-second decisions he's getting wrong will turn right again when he hits a run of form. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he does it right now, starting at the weekend, giving Pep a big headache at the end of the month. He's detirmined and a fighter and he's at a real key moment, especially with the Euros coming. The point I'm making is that any discussion about his short/medium term future at the club is misplaced. The club are negotiating a new deal with him right now. That answers the question of what they think about that future.
