I've given a valid opinion,if you cant cope with anything other than backslaps....that's your issue. No need for the hostility.

You've certainly given an opinion, and I'm looking forward to the club and manager showing what an incredibly shit opinion it is by giving Sterling a 5 year £85m contract.

Hostility? You were actively rooting against Sterling scoring in the Crystal Palace match thread.

Dom in twisting things shocker.....lol.

You are too fond of your own voice pal.

If he gets another contract, good for him and hopefully good for us despite the evidence of the past 12/18 months.

I'm not so sure we can correlate the two, though?

United regularly hand improved renewals to players who can be considered even by their own fans as not being up to standard, simply to secure their investment.

Purely from a fiscal and protectionist asset standpoint, City cannot afford to let Sterling's contract reduce down any further.

He's got over 2 years left. If they wanted to sell him, they'd sell him now.

If they want to keep him until he's 30, they'll give him a 5 year deal on wages that make it impossible for 99.9% of clubs in the world to sign him even if they can afford the transfer fee.

Two years left is the absolute final safe, usually, as we have found to our cost with Sane.

However, due to Covid, the valuation placed on Sterling, already existing huge wage, means even trying to sell this summer would be nigh on impossible.

Most clubs would just wait to force his price down, as might the player, hence me stating we are caught between a rock and hard place.

I don't believe City would be justifying a wage increase if he had more left on his contract, more we can't afford not to.
