Sterling's abject perfomances this season has laid bare the simply flaw in his footballing ability.
Sterling's game was built on purely pace and very little else.
He lacks good basic control skills and for a professional footballer he has one of the weakest shots I have ever seen.
He gives the ball away more than any other City player with perhaps the exception of Mendy.
I see no way back and at the level City are now at I cannot see how we can continue to give him further chances.
I don't think it will be easy to move him on, I can see him running out his contract and leave on a free and if this is the case then so be it but I genuinely think he has been given too many chances already.

Needs a break but isnt going to get one with the Euros. Hope he manages to reset for next season.
Its nowt to do with rest. He's been benched for the big games for ages now. He's just been exposed by our current system for what he is...someone who is one dimensional, lacks a strong mentality, misses a boatload of easy chances, and faulters at the basics.

The old system where we got exposed all the time he was better for obvious reasons, but his conversion stats were still ass.

Run out of excuses for him at this point. He's had a LONG time to get it together at this point. Spoiler alert: He aint gonna...

Starting to look like the Stones thread from 12 months ago...

While he's been poor and having arguably his worst ever run of form, I still think it's too early to write him off.

It's clear his confidence has gone this season but I'm hopeful that will return.

If we just discarded players who have a bad season we'd have sold Bernardo, Mahrez, Gundogan and Stones by now... Yet now they're all key members of our best 11.

All those, whilst in poor form always had excellent technique in their lockers

Therein lies the difference. Exactly this.

I never doubted stones would find form again, admittedly not with us, but delighted for him. But his class was obvious.

Even at his very best raz would miss absolute sitters and get his feet in a twist.

I'm not going to argue on that. I agree that his technique is still a weakness.

But Raz does have many natural gifts that make him almost unplayable when on form. Think about all those key goals he's scored or set up on the way to winning trophies.

They far outweigh the bad moments.

What rich and exciting lives you all must lead that your instant reaction to a dead rubber, after we've won the league title, is to log on here and slate Sterling.

Will this thread be locked I wonder, or is that only for when Sergio is getting dog's abuse?

Indeed

Within seconds of the whistle first fuckin thread to visit and comment.

It’s selfless work, you know, entertaining Sterling followers whose instant reaction is to rush over to this thread.

Totally agree. Raheem looks burned-out physically and mentally which is not surprising considering the number of games he has played for club and country in the last two years (possibly more than any other player in England). He needs to be taken out of the firing line perhaps for a few months (like Stones) and given help. He needs support from the club and our fans.

Dont have any arguments with your reply. The thing is he wants to be recognised financially as one of our top players, and for me you cannot expect to get that without having a much more rounded game.
