The absolute state of this thread after possibly the best performance of the season by the team in which everyone including him played their part in yet you would think he scored an own goal in a game the team lost looking in here. Barring that 1 on 1 he fluffed he was a constant threat, picking up the ball in pockets and driving forward, always an outlet whenever the team was in transition from defence to attack and gave chilwell a particularly torrid time so much so a player who is a big part of how they attack rarely got past the half way line.

I mean there have been some shocking takes on him as a player lately but him having no football IQ has to be high up there.

It’s unbelievable isn’t it, one poster saying get rid! He has not had the best start to the season, but he is one player that we have that can cause any team issues even if he is not playing well, and that’s because of his pace. How many goals did he provide last season? 30? Yeah let’s get rid... some right wankers on here

Trouble is its often the big moments in big games where he messes up. That will always separate him from world class players. To be fair his head doesn't drop but if only he could have a clinical streak.

Best performance by Raheem for a long time and whilst he missed the chance to score when through on goal we did score from that attack. For the first time in a long time he wanted to attack players rather than pass backwards and sideways. Wonder if the 'expert' commentators have worked out yet why he played on the right!

And that,in a nutshell,is the reason he'll never be top class. He isn't a poor player, thats ridiculous....but he doesn't influence games as he should,he's inconsistent and lacks the ability to boss or take a game by the scruff and dictate play.I have nothing against the fella other than i think we can find better.

Its odd that some contributors (i wont resort to insult.....) cannot display any objectivity and believe he is untouchable where criticism is concerned.

He's very much that sort of player, you could throw Grealish into that same pot too,a player i believe would do a far better job for us.
Actually, I'd disagree Grealish is in the same mold. Grealish is more of a creator than a scorer, kinda wide playmaker, sometimes playing straight from the no.10 position. To draw similarities, I'd say Grealish is closer to Mahrez/Bernardo.

Sterling's role is more to poach and take advantage of the spaces left behind by our drifting/withdrawn strikers.

Played well yesterday. Faded 2nd half but looked more of a fitness issue to me. We put a lot in to that 1st half and it worked.

He'll never be a natural goalscorer when he has time to think about it. But he adds so much more to our game than that. It's also the reason we desperately need a clinical forward in the next window because Sterling is a square plug when he is put up there.
