A. Sterling's stock is as low as it has been for 2 or 3 years.
B. The market is in the worst state it has been in for years
C. Who is gonna spend silly money on Sterling this summer?
We'd have to pay more money for a guy who is only 1 year younger, is far less professional and has more off field issues, and has only had 1 season of top quality form. ANd we would be ditching a club legend who has had a few weeks of bad form and maybe 1 season of sub-par form, but before that was better than Grealish is now.
He was out of form from about the October. His goal return was decent so people will say he played well. He didn’t and hasn’t done consistently for that long now. Plenty of goals and people think it means he’s not played badly. Spurs at home he didn’t score but was very good, he was actually using his best asset and leaving their fullback for dead again and in turn creating space for others. So bloody rare to see him do it though these days.

Agreed. Would we be better off with better performances and half the goals ? 18, 17 and 20 PL goals in the past 3 seasons is not too bad for a small guy spending most of his games out wide. Only 9 PL this season + 6 assists but 9 games to go and 4 other goals outside PL.( Grealish in PL 6 goals +12 assists.) In 25 PL appearances, some not full 90 mins. he has scored a goal every 2.77 games. Not his best output but I think Pep appreciates aspects of his contributions that some here don't which to be fair is probably true of all the players.I do get where you're coming from in terms of Sterling's wider influence on games, but I think the casual dismissal of his goals is a bit unfair. The whole purpose of the game is to score goals. If you're routinely finding the back of the net then you're contributing and worthy of your place

I'd be interested to hear any suggestions on who we could get that would churn out 198 goal involvements in 279 games for cheaper...
