I can tell some on Twitter hate Sterling for the sake of hating Sterling.

How can what I've said be considered libellous when all I've done is recall my general experiences of watching games at the Etihad during the 15-16 season? I've not accused any specific person (or group of people) of any wrongdoing, I've just raised to the discussion the possibility that the criticism certain City players have received from our fans is elevated by of sinister motivations. I'm not saying that's what's happening, I'm just not ruling it out. That's not libel.
You know what you're insinuating and that's why I wrote "verging".

My problem isn't admitting that Sterling had a bad spell, it's that the people who readily forgave our other players for their bad patches won't extend the same slack to a guy who's scored over 100 goals for us.

This plus the attempts to rewrite history to pretend he was never great and dind't play a massive part in this team's success.

There does seem to be a gutter full of scum on Twitter who make it their mission to spew bile at him, and others. The majority seems to be because of the colour of his skin and it’s truly disgusting. The likes of Rashford and Wan Bissaka come in for a lot of abuse too :(

I personally haven’t seen anyone on here whose comments seem to have been born out of that prejudice. There’s a difference between that and emotionally invested blues voicing an opinion on whether they feel a player is fulfilling their end of their contractual bargain.

Twitter as a whole is a cesspit where society’s flaws are most readily and anonymously laid bare. I do think there’s a lot of Twitter-style, short, and as such poorly expressed, opinions that bleed into this platform - which is a shame. But I can’t say I’ve personally seen any of the racially motivated stuff make it’s way along side.

Thought he looked a lot more positive, good to see him running at his full-back.

That was his best performance in a long time. The opening 25 mins I thought we had signed a new winger. Naturally went a bit quiet after that, nobody plays at that level for 90 mins. If he played like that more often than not, I would never have a bad word to say about him.

More of that please Raheem.

Don't say it too loud, but that was a brilliant first half from Raz in my book. Direct, confident and productive. That was an England Raz - is it the white shirt? Keep that going***.

Edit: ***Faded quickly in the second half again but still an improvement!

Tbf the whole squad dropped their form in second half but it's still good enough to hold out.

If only we didn't conceded that goal, probably will be different story.
