For a makeshift left back he's a colossus
Seriously I know peps saying he's not a left back but if it ain't broke!
He did not like it at first but Pep told him that he can do very well at LB.
His performance has allowed Pep to move Josko to the CB position which has worked well for us so far.

By design or by fault, Gvardiol and O Reilly look so comfortable in these " new" positions.
When Khusanov received a yellow and got replaced by O Reilly during half time, it seemed to be a catalyst.
If that hadn't happened, I believe that Gvardiol would still be playing at LB.
Hasn't worked out quite as well for Khusanov

Gvardiol has been a revelation, but I think Dias position is very much up for grabs

May have already been mentioned but I remember Slippy G playing fullback at Maine Road and marking Kanchelskis pretty much out of the game and thinking he was going to be a top player. I get a similar feeling with Nico!!!

I love reading how somehow Gvardiol finally playing in his position after nearly two years is some kind of revelation
He's playing really well
It must be some kind of revelation to Pep because he had him playing LB for the best part of 2 seasons.
Only for hauling off Khusanov at HT and O Reilly coming in at LB and Gvardiol moving into Central defence, we might still be waiting.
The fact that both Gvardiol and O Reilly both playing so well is very welcome

No, not IMO, but he was one of a group. Who comes through is not always predictable but he is seizing the chance and is a hell of a prospect.
Not sure I agree on this one. He was arguably the most talented player on his team.

Take a look at his scorpion back heel goal at Sunderland or the two he scored against United for the U18s two years ago.

Always been very versatile too.

I remember being impressed by early Gerrard, watched him for the 1st time ever playing for Liverpool midweek away in Europe at right back....he then turned out few days later at Maine rd playing Left back,....I thought at the time, he's one to watch....he was only a kid back then.

By one of the group, I meant one of the best group of players. I didn't personally think he really stood out ahead of that group, but he clearly is, and was, a talent.

Can't wait to see him in the midfield if we can get our fullback situation sorted. He has good composure with the ball at his feet and physical presence for his age.

I respect your opinion on the academy but I personally think he was head and shoulders above most in that U18 team - which is essentially the current EDS.

Ndala got more attention and I think he just went off the radar a bit having spent most of last season injured.

The scorpion kick was an unforgettable moment. Max Alleyne was/is a talent too. Dada-Mascoll was my personal pick but injuries have really curtailed his development. N'dala, as you mention, is a strange one.

I imagine Rogers was livid as he'll have wanted to prove his quality against a team that let him go.
Rogers is one of those players that wants to play all the time, hence he always demanded to go out on loan.

He’ll have no real affinity for us, or any club.

He was petulant last night and made a couple of snidey tackles too. I didn’t see anything that made me think we should have kept him.

Agreed.
