I don’t agree. He’s played well in multiple games, scored and affected the game. Oreily has also struggled at times, as you’d expect any young player

Don’t want to derail the thread.
I don’t think he has affected games enough apart for scoring which is a good attribute but not enough on it’s own for an AM, as a midfielder doing midfield things, pressing, creating,I don’t think he’s shown quite enough.
He’s a decent player but the level to get us back to multiple trophy winning side, not quite.
O’Reilly just seems to have that little extra mentally, physically, technically that makes him stand out.

I be honest it's up to the club what they want to mould O Reilly into he can be anything from a left back to a holding midfielder to a box to box midfielder. Pep could mould him into anything. I could see him being as others have said a Paul Lake type. I can also see him being a Yaya Toure type strong going forward looking at ease and if he can continue with the end product of goals and assists we might have a top class player for years to come if handled right.

Tough game for the lad. Felt like he was a catastrophic accident waiting to happen and Pep waiting so long to sub him was leaving him hanging. His defensive deficiency was on full show just thankful they didn't have the players to exploit it, could have been ugly had they actually had a right sided winger. Not really his fault, it's not his position, didnt let his head go a stuck to his task thr best he could.

Got caught out of position a few times and tried a few tricks that got us in trouble but I'd rather play young, hungry players than washed up veterans.

Played well first half then really struggled 2nd half . Needs the softly softly approach with this lad to build his strength and fitness.

He lost the ball a few times but overall he looked decent. He wasn't helped by having very few options in front of him.

Hard for a young lad to flourish in such a malfunctioning side at the moment. He did OK today without ripping up any trees.

I kinda think he would be a better Haaland backup than Marmoush.

But he has to play LB, wish we had 2 of him.

Looked like a kid learning the game today but that's perfectly normal all things considered. His potential is obvious.

Did some great stuff today but thought he was positionally a bit poor and struggled to stop the crosses coming in from his side. Not a slight on Nico, he's young inexperienced and not a left full back. Played a great ball to Marmoush first half and played a nice pass through the lines which led to the Foden chance. Doing well in tough circumstances, I think we have a player here.

As an aside note I saw this in Private Eye and laughed. It's Nico all over! (The likeness not the content)

Exactly, which when coupled with getting caught on the wrong side of the ball on multiple United possessions, became an increasing liability.

but I'd rather play young, hungry players than washed up veterans.
I’d rather have the best players for the occasion…regardless of age, race, haircut, tattoos, or quality of WAG. The end.

Hard for youngsters to break into the team, even harder when you’re playing in an unfamiliar position.
