Gundogan has always been our cleverest midfielder off the ball when it comes to arriving in the box at the right time. I recently watched a video of all of his goals for City and the ones from his first season are like watching prime Lampard, the way he delays runs or moves into the right space just when he needs to.

Not saying I'm a genius or a prophet but I said this about Ilkay back in January.

World class players turn up when it really matters. Ilkay Gundogan has proved many times that he's up there with the greatest ever to wear a City shirt. Today was his day.

Not being reactionary when I say this - he is one of the most underrated players in the club’s history.

If today was the last time we see him in a City shirt then I am incredibly grateful for all that he has done for us over the past 6 years.

Hopefully he stays for at least one more season but either way he cemented himself in City folklore today

Brilliant cameo, and he is without a doubt a vital member of the team/squad. Those well timed runs into the box are a big part of his game and we need to keep him.
