At Dortmund Gundogan was an exceptional player, if not for the injury they probably would never have sold him but even at Dortmund Gundogan was a shite defensive midfielder he was even crap as a box to box, so kudos to Pep getting him fit and eventually playing him where he is best.
He absolutely ran the show against us at the etihad in the double pivot.

Klopp played a 4231 in Dortmund, Gundo was part of the 2 and he was great.

He has ranged from too slow, to pointless, to doing a decent job for us for years now. His current performances is beyond anything I ever expected for him ahead of this season, and all credit to him. An absolute boss on the pitch

Playing with a level of confidence and self-expression I feared we may not ever see at City, and that’s coming from someone who has always appreciated his ability and intelligence

There was a feint he did at one point in the second half that sent three or four Burnley players half way to Accrington before they knew what had happened

that little pirouette was outrageous. Silva-esque, but quicker. Nothing said by the commentary as they don’t appreciate subtleness.

It was such a thing of beauty, and he made it look so so easy.

No coincidence that he is amazing in games when KDB (and Silva last year) are not playing. Scary that we hardly notice that KDB is not playing, one of the best players in the world. What a luxury.

That's patently wrong. Gundogan was superb in the run-in back in 18/19 when Fernandinho got injured in February and struggled to stay fit and to regain form till the end of the season. Actually, we looked better and more solid with Gundogan than with Fernandinho. Gundogan played a huge role in winning the title and the domestic treble.

I worry that Pep doesn't rotate Gundogan enough and he may lose form. But now that Kevin is injured Pep hasn't much choice.

Always had excellent first touch, control and quick, short passing, allied to high football intelligence; but has added tenacity, drive and an energy to his play that we haven't seen before (prob consequence of his knee injury). In short, the best player in the league.

The difference is he is scoring goals now which seems to make him a good player to the people who used to slag him off. Fact is he was always an excellent player, rotating the ball quickly, simple and effective. Two of the best coaches in world football could see it, the fact that the lynch mob in Bluemoon couldn’t isn’t really a surprise.we haven’t lost with him in the side this season
