Very attacking up front but very little help to poor Rodri who was surrounded by Villa players.
Very little help on second ball as well - same apply to some other players.
IMO Gundo-KDB-Rodri midfield trio does not work facing aggressive opposition. Gundo himself is brilliant but just the combination is wrong...

We've had a couple of years of the false-9 (or Gabby as an actual 9) dropping back into midfield. What we have now is the "midfield" pushing right up alongside the striker instead, to prevent Haaland getting isolated and so we have runners that can play off him and take advantage of the space he creates.
But we're still struggling to find the balance. It'll come

People ain't ready to hear this, but with Haaland on the lineup we will sacrifice some control on final third because Haaland subpar linkup play, pressing and workrate leading up us more susceptible to counter attack moves from opposition. Fortunately Haaland is working on this weakness and the only thing to improve that by constantly playing him to get better.

Not involved as much as possible in the game.
Maybe
1 Better as a sub than a starter?
2 Not a good combination with Grealish and Cancelo? All 3 right footers.
Gundo showed a better understanding with Gomez in the brief times they played together.

I’d be sitting down with him and having a conversation with Ilkay about his desires for game time beyond this season. If he would stick around, with gradually reducing his game time and increasing his coaching responsibilities. I think we should be grooming him into management, if he wants it.
He has already started taking his coaching badges, Gundogan is very intelligent footballer and will make a great coach imo.I’d be sitting down with him and having a conversation with Ilkay about his desires for game time beyond this season. Don't get me wrong, might have insight and all that. However would need a good team around to make it happen.
