As a lad who backed Gundo to the hilt when a lot of the forum wanted him sent to a gulag or something, it is nice to see that he is finally getting the respect that he deserves.

He is one of the finest midfielders to ever play in our shirt, he is also humble and decent, plus he is a leader.

I am guilty of not getting him initially but hes proved me wrong a million times

Yes you can put him at the top table

He was never hopeless. This was an urban myth that occasionally rears its head
He has been for most of the time one of the "official" scapegoats on this forum. Some "expert" and "high-posting" posters here made sure to promote and cement that. Lately, there has been a feint change of tone due his obvious impact on title wins over the last two seasons in particular. They are just waiting for his next misstep to call it a one-off.

Absolutely pal, he is a magnificent footballer who for some reason is hugely underrated.

His team mates value him thought that much they voted for him to take over from Ferna, that is quite an honour.

Indeed it is. For his team mates to pick him above KDB and Diaz speaks volumes very loudly.

We all know when we played football, winning players player was the bees knees

As other players have come and gone, the pieces really have slotted in around him, to really allow his ability to shine. When he first arrived he had Silva ruling the position he's currently operating in, and he was too often deployed in a defensive capacity due to a lack of options, before Rodri arrived.

It was always evident in Champions League group stage games, how technically adept he is, when he was brought on to dictate tempo and see out a victory, but it's only now that we're able to fully appreciate how his skills truly fit into Pep's machine. I do hope we never have to see him deployed in a defensive role again. Not just because it was torrid to watch, but because he's just too damn good deployed as part of our perpetual motion machine up top. I have a feeling he'll not be far behind KDB in the assists department if he gets the game time.

The signing of Rodri has helped him enormously as they are both "tickers" but from different areas of the pitch. They give us control and allow others to flourish and with Rodri being more defensive it allows Gundo licence to get in the areas where he can finish and he now has 50 for us, a fair return for a midfielder.

Bang on. I'd like to say I had the vision to see our team evolve as it is now, and with Gundo in it, back when he was getting pelters, but I must confess I'm not innocent in that department. I posted a few critical posts on here, though I stand by much of my assessment in the circumstances, with system and position. The guy did his bit for the team without complaint, even where it didn't suit his game, and has come out the other side reaping the benefits. He seems a fantastic fella and I only wish I had Pep's vision back then.

An unusually frank post. Well said mate.
