Imagine obssessing about Rodri's backup when you have Kovacic.
Well we don't seem to be pre occupied with LB any more.. Need to find one position to be insanely concerned about..
Even if it isn't related to the starting 11..

He must know now he is more than crucial to this season if he is going to play 6 & 8

Full head of hair and ready to unleash his full power this season...High quality and I am not sure what has gone on in the summer but physically he looks transformed.

Pep relied on him at the end of last season. Mateo has stated that understanding Pep’s requirements took time to get used to. We saw the same in Rodri’s first season.
What we’re seeing in preseason is a continuation of the last five or six games last season. A very good player, that understands his role and position better.
I expect he will play a significant number of games and will contribute both defensively and offensively. He’s not an out and out goal scoring midfielder but I suspect he’ll improve his goal tally this season.

Mateo Kovacic playing at the position DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER/CENTRAL MIDFIELDER
verry good He can replace Rodri but i still hope Rodi is soon back! :-)
In Croatia Nationalteam He play also more the Defensive Work in Midfield
He played already in Chelsea this position in Inter Mailand and Real Madrid
He played more offensive in Midfield! I think Defensive Midfield/Central Midfield
is the best Position for Mateo Kovacic :-) LOVE MATEO KOVACIC THE AUSTRIAN CROATIAN
